35th Annual Spring Family Breakfast: New England (FIA-NE) met with RhodeIsland’s political leadership at Senator Jack Reed’s!

At Senator Jack Reed’s 35th Annual Spring Family Breakfast, held at the Rhode Island Convention Center on May 5, 2024, a robust contingent of nearly 20 members from the Foundation of Indian Americans – New England (FIA-NE) convened. Senator Reed, esteemed as the senior US Senator from Rhode Island and Chair of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, hosted the event.

Among the distinguished attendees were FIA-NE’s President, Mr. Abhishek Singh, accompanied by notable members of the FIA-New England Executive Committee and senior advisors, including Mr. Sanjay Gokhale, Mr. Rakesh Kavsari, Mr. Nikhil Wadhwa, and Mr. Anand Sharma. The delegation also included prominent individuals from the Indo-American community, such as Mr. Kaushik Patel, Mr. Girish Soni, Dr. Amrut Patel, Mrs. Dina Patel, Mr. Sumesh Hirway, Dr. Apurva Gupta, Mrs. Anupama Gupta, Mr. Karan Salian, and Dr. Snehal Lakhkar, along with the promising presence of two young representatives, Rishi Gokhale and Abhyuday Singh.

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Abhishek Singh acknowledged Senator Reed’s inspirational leadership, while Mr. Sanjay Gokhale commended his continued involvement with the Senate India Caucus. Senator Reed, reflecting on his recent visit to India as part of a bipartisan Senate delegation, emphasized the importance of strengthening diplomatic and military ties between the US and India.

During the event, FIA-NE delegates also had the opportunity to meet with US Congressman Gabe Amo, congratulating him on his election victory. Furthermore, they engaged with Rhode Island’s Governor, Mr. Daniel McKee, Rhode Island’s General Treasurer, Mr. James Diossa, Rhode Island’s Secretary of State, Mr. Gregg Amore, and the Mayor of East Providence, Mr. Roberto (Bob) DaSilva, extending appreciation for their support and camaraderie.

Mr. Abhishek Singh and Mr. Sanjay Gokhale emphasized FIA-NE’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with American civic leadership. Beyond traditional Indian community events, such as India Independence Day and Diwali celebrations, FIA-NE endeavors to actively participate in mainstream American occasions. Looking ahead, FIA-NE plans to organize celebrations for America’s Independence Day, as well as commemorate the bravery exhibited by firefighters, police officers, and first responders on September 11th, underscoring humanity’s collective fight against terrorism and hatred.
