After bringing laughs in Housefull 5, Abhishek Bachchan is now stepping into a very different role in his upcoming film Kaalidhar Laapata. This time, he’s not here to make us laugh, but to touch our hearts with a story full of emotion, second chances, and unlikely friendships.

What is ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’ About?

Directed by Madhumita, Kaalidhar Laapata follows the story of Kaalidhar, a middle-aged man struggling with memory loss and the pain of being left behind by the people closest to him. Life hasn’t been kind to him, and when he hears his own family planning to abandon him during the Maha Kumbh Mela, he quietly decides to walk away from everything.

But just when things seem their darkest, fate steps in.

Kaalidhar meets Ballu—an 8-year-old boy full of spirit and street-smarts, who has been surviving alone on the tough streets of India. What starts as a chance encounter between two very different people soon turns into a beautiful bond, as the two find comfort, strength, and purpose in each other.

Abhishek Bachchan on Playing Kaalidhar

Speaking about his role, Abhishek Bachchan shared that this film was much more than just another project. “As actors, we look for stories that move us—and Kaalidhar Laapata did just that. Playing Kaalidhar was not only emotional but also eye-opening. He’s fragile, childlike, and very real. Through him, I explored parts of myself I hadn’t in a long time.”

He also talked about how special the connection between Kaalidhar and Ballu felt. “Their friendship reminded me that even the most unlikely relationships can teach us something deep. The film made me think about life—not just in terms of time, but in the moments of love, courage, and honesty we experience.”

Abhishek added that he’s proud of this project and has been actively choosing roles with emotional depth in recent years. He hopes this story will touch audiences the way it touched him.

A Word from the Director

Director Madhumita described Kaalidhar Laapata as a story that is both personal and universal. “With this film, I wanted to explore feelings like being left behind, holding on to dignity, and finding connection in unexpected places. Kaalidhar is someone many of us can relate to—a person life has pushed aside, but who still holds on with quiet strength.”

She also praised the on-screen bond between Abhishek and child actor Daivik Bhagela (who plays Ballu), calling their chemistry “tender and honest.” For Madhumita, the film is more than just a story—it’s a gentle reminder that even in life’s hardest moments, we can still find beauty, meaning, and a place to belong.
