Popular singer Shaan recently opened up about why he suddenly left Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, one of Zee TV’s longest-running music reality shows. In a heartfelt interview, he explained that his exit was not a random decision—it was something he felt he had to do, out of loyalty to a friend and colleague.

The Real Reason Behind Shaan’s Exit

Shaan revealed that the producer who had hired him for the show, Gajendra Singh, had a fallout with Zee TV and decided to move to another channel, Star Plus, where he started a new show called Voice of India. When Gajendra left, Shaan felt a strong sense of guilt about continuing on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa without him.

He said, “The person who gave me this opportunity had left. I felt I couldn’t stay on after that.” So, even though preparations were being made for a new season, Shaan decided to step away from the show.

Himesh Reshammiya Warned Him

Interestingly, Shaan shared that fellow singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya had warned him not to leave the show. Himesh told him, “You are making the same mistake as Mahima Chaudhary.”

Shaan didn’t understand what that meant at the time. But later, he found out that actress Mahima Chaudhary had once refused an offer to appear on the UK reality show Big Brother. The opportunity then went to Shilpa Shetty, who became a huge star after winning that season. That decision changed Shilpa’s life.

Shaan said, “So in this story, Aditya became Shilpa Shetty, and I became Mahima Chaudhary.”

Aditya Narayan’s Rise as Host

After Shaan left, Aditya Narayan stepped in as the new host of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Shaan admits that Aditya did a fantastic job and helped make the show even more popular.

He said in an earlier interview, “Aditya took over after I left, and he’s been amazing. The show became even more successful with him.” Shaan also mentioned that the real stars of such shows are the talented contestants, and the host’s job is secondary but important.

Aditya himself later shared his love for the show. In 2022, when he finally stepped away from hosting, he wrote on Instagram, “With a heavy heart, I say goodbye to a show that gave me my adult identity. 15 years, 9 seasons, and 350 episodes. Time really flies.”

Shaan’s Career Continued Strongly

Despite leaving the show, Shaan didn’t disappear from the spotlight. He went on to host Voice of India and stayed active in the music world. He has hosted and judged many other reality shows over the years.

Shaan continues to perform at live concerts and work in films. He is set to perform in a special concert in Mumbai on October 18, celebrating the anniversary of Jio World Drive.
