The magic of Oz is about to reach its most powerful, emotional, and visually spectacular chapter yet. From visionary filmmaker Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights) and producer Marc Platt, comes the highly anticipated conclusion to one of cinema’s most beloved musical sagas — Wicked: For Good.

Universal Pictures India (distributed by Warner Bros. Discovery) will bring the spellbinding finale to theatres on November 21, 2025, marking the triumphant close to the two-part adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical.

A Story of Friendship, Power, and Redemption

In Wicked: For Good, the story continues from where the first part left off — with Elphaba (played by Cynthia Erivo) now branded as The Wicked Witch of the West. Living in exile deep within the Ozian forest, she fights for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and seeks to expose the truth behind The Wizard (portrayed by Jeff Goldblum).

Meanwhile, Glinda (played by Ariana Grande) has risen as the radiant symbol of goodness, living in the dazzling Emerald City under the mentorship of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). As she prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), she remains haunted by her separation from Elphaba — a friendship once forged in love, now fractured by politics, perception, and power.

When an angry mob turns against the so-called Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba must reunite one last time — discovering that the true magic of Oz lies not in spells or crowns, but in empathy, honesty, and forgiveness.

Jon M. Chu on the Heart of the Story

Director Jon M. Chu explains why this second chapter was essential to complete the emotional journey of the characters.

“When we separated the two movies, we realized Wicked: For Good needed more room to tell the full story of these two women and their struggle to come back together,” says Chu. “The world is now literally divided between them — not just by personality or culture, but by politics and power. This is the moment they have to grow up and make choices that define them forever. This isn’t school anymore — this is life.”

Chu, known for his visual grandeur and deeply emotional storytelling, promises a finale that blends breathtaking spectacle with the intimate soul of friendship and loss.

Ariana Grande Praises Her Director’s Vision

Ariana Grande, who portrays Glinda, shared heartfelt admiration for Chu’s approach to storytelling.

“Jon Chu is the most empathetic, intentional, and brilliant human being,” says Grande. “He has taken such care of Oz and protected these characters. He shows us that choices we might call wicked often come from pain, and that even villains have a heart. His ability to tell that truth with compassion is what makes Wicked: For Good so powerful.”

Shooting both films simultaneously, she revealed, was a challenge — but one that Chu handled “with grace, vision, and purpose.”

“No one could have told this story better than Jon,” Grande adds. “It was his destiny to make these films.”

With its soaring performances, stunning world-building, and emotional depth, Wicked: For Good is set to redefine what a musical blockbuster can be. Featuring a stellar cast including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, and more — the film invites audiences back to Oz for one final, unforgettable journey of courage, friendship, and destiny.
