Veteran actor Anupam Kher’s inspirational film Tanvi The Great continues its remarkable journey as it secures a prestigious spot in the Indian Panorama section at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goa later this year. The film, which marks Kher’s directorial debut, is a heartfelt ode to courage, inclusion, and patriotism — weaving together themes of autism awareness and the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army.

Anupam Kher’s Proud Moment

Taking to Instagram, Anupam Kher shared his excitement, writing,

“GREAT NEWS: We are honoured and delighted to share that our film TANVI THE GREAT is an official selection at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the Indian Panorama category. Thank you @iffigoa for this incredible recognition! Jai Ho!”

Along with the announcement, Kher unveiled the film’s official poster — a vibrant visual that captures its essence of determination, love, and national pride.

A Story of Strength and Hope

Tanvi The Great tells the moving story of Tanvi, a young girl with autism, portrayed by talented newcomer Shubhangi Dutt. Despite facing social and emotional challenges, Tanvi dreams of following her late father’s footsteps into the Indian Army. Her unbreakable resolve and pure-hearted vision form the emotional core of the narrative.

Anupam Kher himself plays Tanvi’s grandfather — a guiding presence who supports her journey with wisdom and warmth. The film also stars Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Karan Tacker, Arvind Swami, Nasser, and Iain Glen (of Game of Thrones fame) in pivotal roles, adding both emotional depth and star power to the story.

Global Recognition Before IFFI

Before its IFFI selection, Tanvi The Great had already made waves on the international film festival circuit. It earned standing ovations at Cannes, New York, London, and Houston, and was specially screened at India’s National Defence Academy and Southern Command, Pune, where its message of perseverance resonated deeply with the audience.

The film originally hit theatres on July 18, 2025, and was re-released on September 26, 2025, following widespread demand — a rare feat for a socially conscious drama.

Celebrating Inclusivity and Patriotism

Produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with NFDC, Tanvi The Great combines heartfelt storytelling with cinematic excellence. It shines a light on neurodiversity, encouraging empathy and awareness, while simultaneously celebrating the valor and discipline of India’s armed forces.

Through this film, Kher not only debuts as a director but also reinforces his long-standing belief that cinema can be a powerful medium of change, emotion, and national unity.
