Ikkis OTT Release Details
Until now, viewers had to pay an additional ₹349 to rent the film on Prime Video. However, starting February 26, subscribers can stream the film at no extra charge. This move is expected to significantly boost viewership for the war drama and introduce the inspiring story of a young war hero to a broader digital audience.
Ikkis: Plot And Cast
Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Ikkis features a stellar ensemble including the late Dharmendra, Simar Bhatia, Vivaan Shah, Sikandar Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan and co-written with Arijit Biswas and Pooja Ladha Surti, the film narrates the extraordinary real-life story of Param Vir Chakra awardee Arun Khetarpal.
Agastya Nanda portrays Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was just 21 years old when he was martyred in the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, becoming one of the youngest recipients of India’s highest military honour. Simar Bhatia plays Kiran, while Dharmendra appears as Brigadier M.L. Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun’s father, marking his emotional posthumous on-screen appearance.

Sriram Raghavan On The Film’s Disclaimer
In a recent interview with Variety, director Sriram Raghavan expressed dissatisfaction with the disclaimer added at the end of the film. Drawing parallels with his 2015 film Badlapur, he revealed that creative compromises regarding post-film additions had affected the mood of his earlier work as well.
Despite his reservations about the disclaimer, Raghavan acknowledged producer Dinesh Vijan’s unwavering support in bringing Ikkis to life. The filmmaker emphasized that while creative differences exist, the collaboration remained constructive and respectful.
Critical Reception
The review praised Raghavan’s fresh perspective on war cinema, Dharmendra’s poignant final appearance, and the sincere performances by Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat.
With its free streaming debut, Ikkis is poised to reach a much larger audience, offering viewers a stirring tribute to Arun Khetarpal’s courage and sacrifice.
Jay-Ho Now
As Ikkis arrives on Prime Video without a rental barrier, it provides a meaningful opportunity for younger audiences to reconnect with a defining chapter of India’s military history. More than just a war drama, the film stands as a heartfelt reminder of bravery, sacrifice, and the legacy of a 21-year-old hero whose story continues to inspire generations.
