The long-delayed Bollywood project Dostana 2 is once again making headlines, this time due to reports suggesting that actor Lakshya Lalwani may step away from the film following fresh delays in its production.
Lakshya, who recently gained attention for his performance in The Ba***ds of Bollywood directed by Aryan Khan and released on Netflix in 2025, had earlier been expected to remain a part of the Dharma Productions project despite several changes in the cast over the years.
However, recent industry reports now suggest that the actor’s involvement in the film could be uncertain as the project faces yet another delay.

When Dostana 2 was first announced by Dharma Productions, the film featured:

The film was set to be directed by Collin D’Cunha.
However, in 2021, Dharma Productions announced that the film would be recast due to “professional circumstances,” leading to the exit of Kartik Aaryan from the project.
Following this development, reports suggested that the film would move forward with a new cast, with Lakshya still attached to the project at the time.
Reports Suggest Another Delay For The Film
According to a recent report by Filmfare, Dostana 2 has encountered another delay in its production schedule.
The report claims that the film is still expected to be made, but the final cast has not yet been locked.
An industry source quoted in the report said:
“Dostana 2 is happening for sure but the cast isn’t locked as of now.”
Because of the prolonged delays, speculation has emerged that Lakshya Lalwani could potentially step away from the project.
However, no official confirmation regarding his exit has been announced so far.
Vikrant Massey Confirms His Association With The Film
Interestingly, actor Vikrant Massey previously confirmed that he is part of Dostana 2.
During an interview with Times Now, Massey spoke about joining his first film under Karan Johar’s production banner.
He said:
“I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie. You will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan sir will make sure that I wear good clothes and those fancy sunglasses. Shooting somewhere in Europe.”
While confirming his involvement, the actor did not reveal the identity of the female lead in the project.
Why Dostana 2 Has Remained A Talking Point
Over the years, Dostana 2 has remained one of the most talked-about projects from Karan Johar’s banner.
Much of the attention surrounding the film stems from:
