About the Creator – Dr. Sonal Mazumder
The visionary behind Neelkanth: The Rise of Shiva is Dr. Sonal Mazumder, a scientist, performing artist, choreographer, NASM fitness specialist, and yoga instructor.
Over the past fourteen years, Dr. Mazumder has built an impressive artistic career across the East Coast, directing and performing in nearly one hundred stage productions. Her work is known for blending movement, storytelling, and spiritual philosophy into deeply meaningful performances.
She first gained international recognition through her award-winning debut short film “Ok Silexatana,” where she served as director, actor, and producer. The film received multiple honors from prestigious festivals including the New York Movie Awards, Virgin Spring Cinefest, and Cult Critic Movie Awards.
Dr. Mazumder has also received widespread acclaim for her dance film “Where’re the Angels” and the stage presentation “Metamorphosis,” both celebrated for their originality and emotional depth.
Beyond the performing arts, she has been deeply committed to community wellness. From 2021 to 2024, she founded and led the Women in Maryland Fitness Group, a 500-member community dedicated to holistic health through fitness classes, workshops, and wellness initiatives.
Her artistic and wellness journey is rooted in Dancilla, the platform she founded in 2010 in Virginia. Over time, it evolved into Dancilla YogaFusion, reflecting her belief that movement can inspire creativity, transformation, and inner awakening.
