Shahid Kapoor has offered a fresh update on Farzi 2, revealing that filming for the highly anticipated second season is approaching its conclusion. On October 15, 2026, the actor shared behind-the-scenes pictures on social media and reflected on the personal connection he feels with Sunny, the artist-turned-counterfeiter he plays in the Prime Video crime thriller.
In his caption, Shahid drew a parallel between his own journey as an artist and Sunny’s determination to make his mark. His words offered fans a glimpse into how deeply he has connected with the character ahead of the series’ return.
Shahid Kapoor Reflects on His Connection With Sunny
Sharing the photographs from the sets of Farzi 2, Shahid wrote that Sunny continues to remain a part of him, describing the character as closely connected to his own artistic identity.
“As the shoot on FARZI 2 is coming to a close. It only reminds me of how much Sunny lives in me. I am him and he is me. We both started as just a kid off the mumbai streets with a fire in his heart to tell the world…. look at me. I AM AN ARTIST !!” Shahid wrote.
The actor’s message highlights a shared ambition: the desire to be recognised for one’s creative identity. While Sunny pursues his ambitions through a dangerous criminal enterprise, Shahid’s reflection focuses on the character’s underlying urge to prove himself as an artist.
The update has added to anticipation for the second season, particularly among viewers who have been waiting to see what happens after Sunny’s increasingly risky choices in the first instalment.
Farzi 2 Shoot Nears Completion
Shahid’s latest post indicates that production is approaching its final stages. The update follows earlier reports from the cast about progress on the new season. Bhuvan Arora, who plays Sunny’s close friend Firoz, also said in an interview published in October that most of his portions had been completed and described the upcoming season as bigger in scale.
Created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K., popularly known as Raj & DK, Farzi combines crime, dark comedy and suspense. Shahid returns as Sunny, with the story expected to continue exploring the consequences of his involvement in counterfeit currency.
Although filming is nearing completion, a confirmed premiere date for Season 2 has not been announced in Shahid’s latest update. Viewers will have to wait for an official announcement from Prime Video or the creators for further details about the release schedule.
What Happened in Farzi Season 1?
The first season of Farzi premiered on Prime Video in February 2023. It introduced Sunny, a gifted artist who becomes involved in counterfeiting money while attempting to save his grandfather’s struggling printing press.
His friend Firoz, played by Bhuvan Arora, becomes his partner in the operation. Their activities eventually draw the attention of Mansoor Dalal, portrayed by Kay Kay Menon, while Vijay Sethupathi plays Michael Vedanayagam, an officer determined to bring the counterfeit network down.
Raashii Khanna plays Megha, an RBI officer whose relationship with Sunny complicates the investigation. Amol Palekar appears as Sunny’s grandfather, Nanu, whose death becomes a pivotal moment in the story.
The season concludes with Sunny moving further into the criminal world even as the authorities close in. His decisions leave several conflicts unresolved, setting up the possibility of a more dangerous chapter in the next season.
What to Expect From Farzi 2
With Shahid returning as Sunny and Bhuvan Arora reprising his role as Firoz, the next season is positioned to continue the story of their expanding counterfeiting operation and the threats surrounding it. Vijay Sethupathi and other familiar cast members are also associated with the returning series, while further developments are awaited from the makers.
The creators have yet to reveal the complete plot, so the direction of Sunny’s journey remains under wraps. Shahid’s latest post, however, reinforces that the character continues to hold a significant place in his creative journey.
For fans, the central question is how Sunny will navigate the consequences of his earlier choices while attempting to establish himself on his own terms. With production nearing completion, further official updates could offer a clearer picture of the series’ next chapter.
