Yami Gautam has addressed the box-office timing of Nayyi Navelli, which arrived in theatres just a day after Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. Responding to a viewer who felt the release schedule was unfavourable for her horror-comedy, the actress acknowledged how difficult it has become for films to secure a release window with limited competition.

However, Yami made it clear that she had no complaints about sharing the theatrical window with Rajinikanth. Calling herself a fan of the superstar, she described the opportunity to release her film alongside his as an honour and said she was looking forward to watching Jailer 2.

What Did Yami Gautam Say About the Nayyi Navelli–Jailer 2 Clash?

The discussion began when an X user praised Nayyi Navelli but questioned its release timing. The post read, “Movie badhiya hai. Timing with Jailer2 was not optimum.”

Responding to the comment, Yami highlighted the challenges filmmakers face when trying to secure a release date with fewer competing films. She also acknowledged the effort that goes into making a film and thanked audiences for giving her project a chance.

“Nowadays to get a solo or just 2 films release window is difficult. It’s very difficult to make a successful film today, hence I appreciate everyone’ effort to have done their best 🙂 And I couldn’t be more grateful to audience for giving us a chance,” she wrote.

Her response recognised the commercial pressures surrounding theatrical releases without blaming another film for her movie’s performance. The actress also expressed gratitude towards the team behind Nayyi Navelli and the viewers who chose to watch it in cinemas.

‘I Am a Huge Rajni Sir Fan,’ Says Yami Gautam

Yami further clarified that she considers releasing a film alongside Rajinikanth a privilege rather than a cause for complaint. Her response struck an appreciative tone towards the veteran actor, whose latest film opened in theatres on October 15, 2026.

“Having said that, just like millions of people I am also a huge Rajni sir fan. It was indeed an honour for me to have my small film release along with sir’, which I am myself looking forward to watch it soon,” she added.

Nayyi Navelli arrived in cinemas on October 16, one day after Jailer 2. The two films target different audience experiences, with Yami’s film combining horror and comedy while Rajinikanth’s sequel is an action entertainer. Their overlapping theatrical runs have nevertheless placed them in the same competitive box-office conversation.

Nayyi Navelli Box Office Collection: How Much Did the Film Earn in Its First Weekend?

According to Sacnilk’s box-office tracking, Nayyi Navelli collected an estimated ₹3.25 crore net in India on its opening day. The film’s collections increased to ₹4 crore on Saturday, followed by ₹4.40 crore on Sunday.

That took its three-day India net collection to ₹11.65 crore. The film’s reported India gross stood at ₹13.88 crore, while its worldwide gross reached ₹15.88 crore, including an estimated ₹2 crore from overseas markets. These are trade-tracker estimates and may differ from final figures.

The opening-weekend numbers provide an early picture of the film’s theatrical performance, but its longer-term prospects will depend on weekday collections, audience response and how well it sustains interest in the days ahead.

Jailer 2 Box Office Collection: Rajinikanth’s Film Crosses ₹400 Crore Worldwide

Meanwhile, Jailer 2 recorded a strong Sunday, October 18, according to Sacnilk figures reported by multiple outlets. The film earned an estimated ₹55.85 crore net in India on Day 4, taking its domestic net total to ₹199.90 crore.

Its reported India gross reached ₹234.25 crore, while overseas gross collections stood at ₹190 crore. Together, these figures took the film’s worldwide gross to approximately ₹424.25 crore after four days in theatres.

The difference in the reported box-office totals reflects the contrasting commercial scale of the two releases. However, Yami’s response focused on the wider difficulty of securing a favourable release window, rather than treating the clash as the sole explanation for her film’s performance.
