Rajkummar Rao is set to make a cameo appearance in Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, the romantic drama produced by Luv Ranjan that introduces six newcomers to Hindi cinema. Directed by Anuj Saini, the film explores first crushes, school friendships and the complicated emotions that accompany young love. It is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 23, 2026.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Rajkummar’s cameo adds a familiar face to a film led by an entirely new ensemble. His appearance also brings him back into collaboration with producer Luv Ranjan, with whom he has previously worked on other projects. The cameo has drawn attention ahead of the film’s theatrical arrival.
Rajkummar Rao’s Cameo in Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar
Rajkummar Rao’s reported appearance is one of the latest details to emerge about Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar. The actor has previously collaborated with Luv Ranjan on Chhalaang, in which he played a physical training instructor, and narrated the Netflix film Wild Wild Punjab.
Rao is also set to portray former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in the upcoming biographical film Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story, which is being produced by Luv Ranjan. The project marks another collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker, although the two films feature different subjects and stories.
Details about Rao’s character and the extent of his screen time in Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar have not been fully disclosed in the supplied announcement. His cameo is therefore best treated as a supporting attraction rather than a central part of the film’s promotional pitch.
Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar Introduces Six New Actors
The film introduces six actors making their big-screen debuts: Alisha Chopra, Sparsh Walia, Kunal Vaid, Sakshi Vaidya, Tushar Chhibber and Sargun Kaur Luthra. They form the main cast of the coming-of-age romantic drama, which centres on friendship, relationships and the memories associated with growing up.
Producer Luv Ranjan said the film draws inspiration from familiar experiences, including school days, friendships and first crushes. He also expressed excitement about introducing six new performers and allowing audiences to discover their characters and journeys.
In a statement shared about the project, Ranjan said the characters belong to a younger generation, but the emotions explored in the story are universal. He described bringing six new actors into a world of humour and young romance as an exciting part of the filmmaking experience.
The focus on new talent is a significant part of the film’s identity. Rather than relying on established stars to lead the story, Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar places its newcomers at the centre, with Rao’s reported cameo adding a recognisable name to the ensemble.
Anuj Saini Makes His Directorial Debut
Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar also marks Anuj Saini’s first film as a director. Saini has expressed enthusiasm about beginning his directorial journey with a young cast, praising what the six actors have brought to the story.
For a debut filmmaker, the project offers an opportunity to establish a distinctive voice through a relationship-driven narrative. Its themes of friendship, romantic confusion and youthful memories are familiar territory for Hindi cinema, making the performances and storytelling central to how the film connects with audiences.
The film is presented by Luv Films and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The production brings together a first-time feature director and six debuting actors, with a story built around experiences that many viewers may recognise from their own school and college years.
What Is Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar About?
