Ananya Panday’s new show Call Me Bae has brought a playful twist to Kiara Advani’s glamorous wedding with Sidharth Malhotra. In the first episode of this Prime Video India series, we see Ananya Panday, playing the character Bella Chowdhary (also known as Bae), recreate a scene inspired by Kiara and Sidharth’s 2023 nuptials.

Ananya Panday’s Recreate Kiara and Sidharth’s Wedding Scene

In a standout moment from the show, Bella and her on-screen husband Aggie (played by Vihaan Samat) have a lavish wedding that closely mirrors the real-life wedding of Bollywood stars Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra. Their ceremonial setup and attire closely imitate those of Kiara and Sidharth, down to the dramatic entry and the final namaste pose at the mandap—the traditional wedding altar—mirroring the couple’s first official wedding photograph.

Adding to the fun, the sequence uses the same song that played during Kiara’s wedding entrance: Jasleen Royal‘s “Ranjha.” This song, which also featured in the 2021 film Shershaah, was part of the soundtrack of Kiara and Sidharth’s movie and adds a nostalgic touch to the parody. Call Me Bae is backed by Dharmatic Entertainment, which is the digital branch of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the same studio behind Shershaah.

A Playful Reference to Another Bollywood Wedding

But the nods don’t stop there. The episode also pokes fun at another high-profile Bollywood wedding. As the fireworks light up the sky in the show, Bella (Ananya Panday) humorously comments in a voiceover, “Those aren’t fireworks. Those are just drones getting shot down.” This playful jab refers to a rumor that circulated during the 2022 wedding of Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal. The rumor claimed that drones were shot down to keep the event a secret, a quirky and exaggerated way to maintain privacy around the high-profile wedding.

What is Call Me Bae About?
