Prime Video has unveiled the gripping trailer of its upcoming Prime Original Subedaar, headlined by Anil Kapoor in a commanding new avatar. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the action-drama blends socio-political tension with an emotionally layered father-daughter story.

Set against the backdrop of illegal sand mining in India’s rugged heartland, Subedaar positions Kapoor as Subedaar Arjun Maurya — a retired army officer fighting to reclaim his dignity in a world where fear and silence dominate.

A Battle Beyond the Battlefield

The narrative follows Arjun Maurya’s confrontation with Prince, played by Aditya Rawal, a figure emblematic of the entrenched criminal nexus tied to illegal sand mining. As Arjun takes on systemic corruption, the film also delves into his fractured relationship with his daughter Shyama, portrayed by Radhikka Madan.

The ensemble cast includes Mona Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Faisal Malik and Khushboo Sundar in pivotal roles, adding depth to the volatile narrative landscape.

One of the trailer’s standout moments features Kapoor delivering a powerful line:
“Fauji hai, seene mein goli jhel sakte hai, beizzati nahi.”
The dialogue encapsulates the character’s pride, discipline, and unwavering moral code.

Anil Kapoor on Playing Subedaar Arjun Maurya

Speaking about the role, Anil Kapoor described it as one of the most emotionally demanding performances of his career. He highlighted how Arjun Maurya is defined by discipline, sacrifice, and personal loss — traits that shaped both the action and emotional core of the story.

Kapoor also emphasized that Subedaar marks his first collaboration with Suresh Triveni and Prime Video. Beyond acting, he was creatively involved as a producer, contributing to the film’s vision in a more holistic capacity.

The film will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on March 5, streaming in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across India and in over 240 countries and territories.

Radhikka Madan on the Emotional Core

Radhikka Madan described her character Shyama as a young woman navigating grief, fear, and emotional vulnerability while attempting to repair a strained bond with her father. She noted that Shyama’s strength is quiet and rooted in resilience rather than overt defiance.

Sharing the screen with Anil Kapoor, she said, was a learning experience, praising his intensity and discipline. She also expressed long-standing admiration for director Suresh Triveni, calling the father-daughter dynamic the emotional backbone of the film.

A Tribute to Mainstream Cinema with Emotional Depth

Director Suresh Triveni has described Subedaar as a tribute to the mainstream cinema he grew up watching — layered with action, but anchored in character relationships. At its heart, the film examines the psychological and social challenges faced by a retired army officer adjusting to civilian life while holding firmly to his principles.

Jay-Ho Exclusive

With its blend of high-stakes action, socio-political commentary, and an emotionally charged father-daughter equation, Subedaar positions itself as more than just an action drama. It is a character-driven narrative about respect, identity, and resilience in a volatile world.

Streaming from March 5 on Prime Video, the film promises intensity, heart, and a commanding performance from Anil Kapoor in one of his most powerful roles yet.
