On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a special Sankranthi celebration at the home of Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy in New Delhi. The event brought together several notable figures, including actor Chiranjeevi and badminton champion PV Sindhu. This gathering was held to celebrate the harvest festival, which is known by different names in various regions of India.

A Star-Studded Event

At the Sankranthi event, alongside PM Modi, actor Chiranjeevi, and athlete PV Sindhu, several other prominent personalities were present. Union ministers and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also joined the celebrations, as per reports from ANI. The event marked the traditional harvest rituals that vary across the country, with each region celebrating in its unique way.

A video shared by ANI showed Chiranjeevi walking alongside PM Modi, as the two of them participated in the lighting of a diya (lamp) to signify the beginning of the festivities. The atmosphere was filled with cultural performances, including a special musical performance by singer Sunitha, who entertained the guests after a pooja ceremony and the lighting of the bonfire. Classical dance performances also added to the cultural richness of the event.

Chiranjeevi’s Brief Political Journey

Though known primarily for his acting career, Chiranjeevi has also had a brief stint in politics. In 2008, he founded the Praja Rajyam Party in Tirupati. The party made a notable impact in the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, winning 18 out of 294 seats and securing over 16% of the vote share. In 2011, Chiranjeevi merged his party with the Indian National Congress and later became the Union Minister of State for Tourism.

However, after 2014, Chiranjeevi decided to step away from active politics. His brother, Pawan Kalyan, currently holds a political position as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, representing the Jana Sena Party in coalition with the TDP and BJP.

Chiranjeevi’s Upcoming Projects

Chiranjeevi remains a beloved figure in the film industry and continues to entertain his fans. His last film appearance was in the 2023 releases Waltair Veerayya and Bholaa Shankar, both of which received a warm reception.

Fans are eagerly awaiting his next project, a socio-fantasy film titled Vishwambhara. Although the film was initially expected to be released during Sankranthi, its release has been delayed. His son, actor Ram Charan, has taken the Sankranthi release slot with his upcoming movie Game Changer.
In addition to Vishwambhara, Chiranjeevi has also signed on for another project directed by Srikanth Odela. There are also rumors that he will collaborate with director Boyapati Srinu for another film, which is generating significant buzz among his fans.

Chiranjeevi’s participation in the Sankranthi celebrations with Prime Minister Modi and other notable personalities highlighted his continued connection to both the cultural and political spheres. While his political career may have been brief, his presence at events like this demonstrates his enduring influence in Indian public life. Fans of the actor can look forward to his upcoming films as he continues to shine in the world of cinema.
