You know him from his villainous role in the iconic Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and for stealing the show in Aashiqui (1990). Yes, we are talking about the talented and handsome Deepak Tijori who has won many hearts with his style and acting chops. While we know him for excelling at many supportive roles in movies, did you know that Deepak could have played the lead role of Prem in Salman Khan’s debut movie Maine Pyar Kiya?
Speaking about the movie in a recent interview, Deepak shared how both Salman and he were the final two contenders for the role but in the end, director Sooraj Barjatya chose Salman. Deepak praised the director’s choice as ‘absolutely correct’ for the film. Deepak spoke about how Sooraj called him and explained his choice, stating that while he loved both of them during the audition, Salman’s looks had ‘impressed the women in the family’. And since the movie was a love story, Salman was better to pull it off ‘ as actors, although both of you were competent’. Deepak added, “It was totally justified”.
So while Deepak has no regrets over Maine Pyar Kiya, he mentioned losing out a place in Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar. Deepak claimed that he ideated the making of the film after watching A Kiss Before Dying and shared it with Abbas-Mustan. Disappointingly, they cast Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role and their promise to ‘compensate’ Deepak also never materialized.
However, Deeapk is past all that and he continues to be a treat for his fans and cinema lovers, especially with his latest dashing salt and pepper look. In a recent interview with Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show, Deeapk shared many tidbits on life, his acting journey, and his iconic hand gesture in the blockbuster Aashiqui. Fans looking to see him in a lead role can watch him make his comeback in Ittar opposite Rituparna Sengupta. So, we ,at Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show, wish Deepak the very best for his movie and hope to see more of him on the silver screen and on our show.
