Addressing the topic head on in her warm and candid manner, Ekavali said,” I am not opposed to the idea of playing somebody younger provided I look the part, and provide a good meaty role. Even if the role is not a long role, it has to have some substance, it has to have some impact”. Speaking on her role as Kalindi Puri’s stepmother in Veere di Wedding, she explained how the character was fun and quirky to play. Speaking on the well developed character, she said that there was a proper backstory, her social climbing, and her relationship with Kareena’s father in the movie. Of note was the character’s peculiar laugh typical to such circles and Ekavali mentioned how the director’s brief was short and brief in how it conveyed the visual portrayal of the character, “Here is a woman who comes very sophisticated today. She knows how to use everything, she knows her wines, her cheese, well-dressed, everything is great, She goes to the club everyday.” And of course, she nailed it perfectly as we all saw.
