Sireesha Bhagavatula, the Qala singer, a rising star and a wonderful soul, is a concrete example of the quote “Success isn’t determined by how many times you win, but by how you play the week after you lose”, by legendary football player Pele. It’s Sireesha’s talent that she beautifully embraced every significant chance she was given after having lost in the reality shows.

The soulful and enchanting voice behind the Qala songs, Sireesha Bhagavatula, recently appeared on Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show and spoke at length about her life and her leap from reality shows to Bollywood.

Sireesha made her Bollywood debut with the film Qala, lending her voice to Tripti Dimri, the female lead of the movie. Every song in the film, including Ghodey Pe Sawaaar, Phero na Najariya, Shauq, and Rubaaiyaan has a vintage feel, and Sireesha Bhagavatula elevates them all even better. She has given each song her all. And, it’s a fortunate accident that Sireesha has grown up listening to the classic music because the Qala songs’ retro mood seamlessly synchronises with her voice. Sireesha says, “I grew up listening to the old songs. I’ve always been inclined in this direction.” Well, with the wings beginning to fly high, Sireesha is eager and prepared to explore more. She says, “I want to explore every genre of music. I am always up for anything that comes. I have recently sung a rap song also which is yet to be released.”

When discussing her work with renowned musicians like AR Rahman, Amit Trivedi, and others, she discusses her strange luck—or, perhaps more accurately, her good fortune—that each opportunity to collaborate with these big-name musicians came her way after she was eliminated from the singing reality shows she participated in. Sireesha says, “When I was evicted from Super Singer Telugu, the next day I was in the studio of Rahman Sir, and when I was eliminated from Indian Idol the following week, I was in the studio of Amit Trivedi Sir. So, consider it my fate that every time I was eliminated from a reality show, I was presented with amazing opportunities.”

During the pleasant, entertaining, and structured interview with host Jay Kumar, Sireesha Bhagavatula talked about her journey from reality shows to playback singing. She also revealed how Tripti Dimri, the Qala actress, mirrored her actions, and that Sireesha’s small contributions to the song were added by composer Amit Trivedi.
