Golmaal 5, the fifth instalment of Rohit Shetty’s popular comedy franchise, is shaping up to be a fresh chapter in the long-running series. According to a report by PTI, the upcoming film will reunite the original ensemble cast while introducing a significant new element — the franchise’s first-ever female villain.

Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film marks a new creative phase for the Golmaal universe, which began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006 and has since become one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises.

Original Cast Set to Return

As per the report, Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu are all set to return as the familiar mischief-loving characters. Notably, Sharman Joshi is also expected to rejoin the franchise, re-establishing a connection with the original film.

The reunion of the core cast is likely to appeal strongly to long-time fans of the series, which has thrived on ensemble performances and chaotic humour.

Fantasy Comedy Twist in Golmaal 5

An insider associated with the project told PTI that Golmaal 5 will go beyond its usual situational comedy.

“The fifth part is going to be a fantasy comedy,” the source revealed.

This indicates that the film may blend the franchise’s trademark humour with elements of fantasy or surreal storytelling, expanding its narrative and visual scope beyond earlier instalments.

First-Ever Female Villain

One of the most notable developments in Golmaal 5 is the introduction of a female antagonist, a first for the franchise. While casting discussions are reportedly ongoing, the story has been written with a woman in the negative role.

“This story was written in a manner that the negative character is played by a woman,” the insider explained.

This creative choice marks a departure from the franchise’s previous films and adds a new dynamic to the narrative.

Supporting Cast and Franchise Legacy

In addition to the main cast, familiar faces such as Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kaleshkar, Mukesh Tiwari and Sanjay Mishra are also expected to return, ensuring continuity in the franchise’s distinctive comic style.

Over nearly two decades, the Golmaal series has become known for its quirky characters, exaggerated situations, and slapstick humour. With Golmaal 5, the shift towards fantasy suggests an attempt to refresh the formula while retaining the essence that audiences have enjoyed over the years.
