Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar, has been one of the most talked-about Bollywood projects ever since its announcement. The film recently grabbed headlines after reports suggested that Ranveer Singh has stepped away from the project, prompting the makers to look for a new actor to take on the iconic role of Don.
Now, as per the latest industry buzz, Hrithik Roshan has emerged as a strong contender to step into the franchise.
Ranveer Singh’s Exit From Don 3
Ranveer Singh was officially announced as the new Don last year, taking over the role previously played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. However, a recent report claims that the actor has exited the project amid the massive success of his recent film Dhurandhar.
According to sources, Ranveer is currently being selective about his choices and is keen to avoid being associated with back-to-back gangster roles.
A source shared,
“He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee. At the same time, he doesn’t want to be seen in consecutive gangster films, especially since Dhurandhar has already established him in that space.”
The source further added that Ranveer has asked director Jai Mehta to prepone the shoot of Pralay, indicating a reshuffle in his upcoming slate.
Hrithik Roshan: The New Face of Don 3?
Following Ranveer Singh’s reported exit, Filmfare suggests that Hrithik Roshan’s name has surfaced as a top choice for Don 3.
Interestingly, Hrithik had a memorable cameo reference in Don 2, where Shah Rukh Khan’s Don impersonates Hrithik’s character in a key scene — a moment that fans still remember fondly.
If finalized, Hrithik stepping into the Don universe would mark a major casting shift and bring a completely different energy to the franchise.
However, as of now, there is no official confirmation from the actor or the makers.
Villain Update: Vikrant Massey to Return?
Adding another layer of intrigue, a previous report by News18 suggested that Vikrant Massey, who had earlier quit the project, may return to Don 3 as the main antagonist.
While details about the cast are still being locked, the makers are reportedly keen on assembling a strong ensemble to reboot the franchise on a grand scale.
