Janhvi Kapoor, who is currently promoting her upcoming film Mr & Mrs Mahi with Rajkummar Rao, recently opened up about her fashion choices. Known for her impeccable style, Janhvi surprised many by revealing that she often wears rented clothes and jewelry, sourced by her stylists. She sees this as her contribution to sustainability in the fashion industry.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Method Of Dressing for Mr & Mrs Mahi

During the trailer launch of Mr & Mrs Mahi, a film based on cricket, Janhvi Kapoor impressed everyone with her unique “method dressing.” She wore a red jersey blouse paired with a royal blue outfit, reflecting elements of her character in the movie. Despite the praise she receives for her fashion sense, Janhvi is candid about her preference for rented attire.

In a recent interview on Mashable India’s The Bombay Journey, Janhvi revealed that most of her outfits are rented. She shared that the ensemble she wore for the episode was also borrowed. “Whenever the stylists call for clothes, they’re mostly rented. The shoes and rings are mine, but the necklace, bracelets, and shirt are not. Bhaade ke hain!” she said with a laugh.

Janhvi explained that while these outfits and accessories are customized for her, they must be returned after the event. “This entire look is put together by renting clothes and accessories. In sabko lautana padta hai (We have to return them). Does that qualify as being sustainable?” she asked, highlighting her eco-friendly approach to fashion.

The Dhadak actress also mentioned that she has no issues with repeating her clothes. “I repeat clothes. Mera ek night suit hai which I refuse to let go of. It has the face of my favorite character embossed on it,” she shared, showing her down-to-earth attitude towards fashion.

Sara Ali Khan’s Take on Sustainable Fashion

Janhvi’s friend and fellow actress Sara Ali Khan has also spoken about her sustainable fashion choices. In a 2020 interview with iDiva, Sara mentioned, “I’ve been wearing the same white clothes ever since I can remember. I wear whatever is given to me on rent, so here’s hoping it is sustainable!” Both actresses highlight the growing trend of sustainability in the industry.

Upcoming Film: Mr & Mrs Mahi

As Janhvi gears up for the release of Mr & Mrs Mahi on May 31, her approach to fashion remains practical and environmentally conscious. The film, co-starring Rajkummar Rao, is eagerly anticipated by fans.

Janhvi Kapoor’s revelation about wearing rented clothes and jewelry sheds light on a lesser-known aspect of celebrity fashion. By choosing to wear rented and recycled outfits, she promotes a sustainable approach to fashion, setting an example for her fans and the industry. Her candidness about repeating clothes and borrowing accessories shows that even style icons prioritize sustainability and practicality over excess. As she continues to captivate audiences with her performances and fashion choices, Janhvi proves that looking good doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment.
