Jennie, a beloved member of the K-pop sensation Blackpink, has signed a new deal with Columbia Records as a solo artist. This move comes after Blackpink’s recent split from their previous label, YG Entertainment. Although Jennie is now working with Columbia Records, this new partnership does not mean she is completely leaving behind her old label. Instead, her new deal is in collaboration with her current record label and entertainment company, ODDATELIER. The news of Jennie’s new affiliation with Columbia Records was announced on Sunday, September 8, and comes with the exciting reveal that she will be dropping a new solo single in October 2024.
Jennie’s Solo Career So Far
Jennie’s solo career has already seen considerable success. In December 2024, Blackpink announced their departure from YG Entertainment as they each pursued individual projects. Despite this, Blackpink’s group activities are still handled by YG. Jennie made a splash in June 2023 with the release of her single “One of the Girls,” featuring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp. The song, which was part of HBO’s series The Idol, quickly gained popularity. According to Billboard, “One of the Girls” has been streamed over 1 billion times on Spotify and received Platinum certification from the RIAA.
Following this success, Jennie released another solo track, “You and Me,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Global Excel US chart. This impressive feat made her the second Blackpink member to achieve such a milestone, following Rosé’s success with her single “On the Ground.”

What the Other Blackpink Members Are Up To
The other members of Blackpink have also been busy with their solo endeavors following their departure from YG Entertainment. Jisoo released her debut album, Me, in March 2023.
