The Bengali superstar Jisshu U Sengupta who has been an integral face in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films is all set to star in the upcoming Samantha Ruth Prabhu movie Shaakuntalam, a Telugu-language historical film. Starting from the small screen, Jisshu will now play the mythological character of Indra Dev, a familiar territory for him. Directed by Gunashankar, the movie stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu as Shakuntala and Dev Mohan as Dushyanta in the lead roles.
While the heartthrob of Bengali cinema, Jisshu is no stranger to the Telugu cinema, having previously played roles in movies such as NTR: Kathanayakudu, Aswathama, Bheeshma, Maestro, Shyam Singha Roy, Acharya, and Sita Raman. His stellar performances in movies like Aswathama and Bheeshma has raised the bar in portrayal of characters and he brings the much needed artistic essence to his characters and thus helps in creating the vibe of his films.
Featured in prominent Bollywood movies
Apart from Bengali and Telugu movies, Jisshu also has a number of prominent Bollywood movies under his belt, playing roles in Barfi, Piku, Shakuntala Devi, Sadak 2, and Antim: The Final Truth. Along with his brilliant television career, this latest outing only confirms Jisshu’s extraordinary acting appeal in Pan-India movies.
Beside acting, Jisshu is passionate about cricket and is currently preparing to lead as captain of the Bengal Tigers squad against the Karnataka Bulldozers in the upcoming Celebrity Cricket League concurrently (CCL). The match will be the first one of the CCL calendar and will take place in Raipur. Infact, before starting his thespian career, Jisshu played in few state-level sub junior league cricket matches for Bengal.
