The Dancers of “Kathanattyam 2.0”

This production is a unique amalgamation of various Indian classical dance forms, including Kathak and Bharatnatyam, enhanced by innovative fusion styles. Seven exceptional dancers will come together to narrate this poignant tale, channeling the fury of the goddesses and their quest for justice.

Meet the Dancers:

  1. Suchismita
    By day, Suchismita is a corporate professional, but her heart beats for dance. With training in Bharatnatyam and other classical forms, she brings grace and precision to every performance, embodying the spirit of her characters with authenticity.
  2. Sunanda
    A versatile dancer, Sunanda excels in Bharatnatyam, Indian Creative Dance, Kathak, and Rabindra Nritya. Her skills have flourished under the expert guidance of Guru Thankamani Kutty, whose mentorship has refined her artistry and performance capabilities.
  3. Swadhina
    An accomplished performer, Swadhina has graced prestigious stages, including NABC, where she showcased her talent alongside renowned dancer Tanushree Shankar. Her training in Bharatnatyam and the Uday Shankar style enriches her performance, adding depth and dynamism.
  4. Debashree
    With dual training in Bharatnatyam and Kathak, Debashree has mastered two of India’s most intricate dance forms. Her dedication to both styles reflects her passion for preserving the cultural heritage of Indian classical dance.
  5. Saimanti
    A winner of Mrs. Bharat Elite, Saimanti balances her career in IT with her love for dance. In “Kathanattyam 2.0,” she rediscovers her passion for Kathak, showcasing her artistic journey and commitment to the dance community.
  6. Subhoshree
    By profession, Subhoshree is a scientist, but her heart lies in Kathak. Her commitment to dance is evident in her tireless dedication, reflecting the hard work she puts into every performance and her desire to contribute to the arts.
  7. Nivedita
    The founder of Kalakaar, Nivedita is a professional Kathak dancer with decades of experience. Her passion for dance inspires many, and she expresses gratitude to her mentors, including Guru Vidushi Madhumita Rai and the late Padmabhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj. Nivedita conceptualized this performance to raise awareness about violence against women, drawing attention to an urgent social issue.
