Akshay Kumar, along with Ananya Panday, launched the much-awaited trailer of Kesari Chapter 2 on Thursday in Delhi. The historical drama promises to bring an important and untold chapter of Indian history to the big screen.
A Glimpse into Kesari Chapter 2
The trailer introduces a gripping courtroom battle where Akshay Kumar plays C. Sankaran Nair, a lawyer who took on the British Empire after the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film aims to bring to light the lesser-known legal fight that followed the horrifying event.
The trailer starts by showing the massacre and its aftermath in India. It then shifts to the courtroom, where Akshay’s character takes a stand against the British. R. Madhavan plays Neville McKinley, the lawyer defending the British Crown. The intense face-off between the two actors forms the crux of the story.
Ananya Panday also plays a key role in the film as a law student in the UK. Her character adds a fresh perspective to the historical drama.
The Kesari Franchise
Keshari Chapter 2 is the sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, which depicted the Battle of Saragarhi. That battle was fought in 1897 between 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and 10,000 Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen. Parineeti Chopra played a major role in the first film.
Unlike its predecessor, which focused on a military battle, Kesari Chapter 2 shifts to a courtroom setting, showing a different kind of fight—one for justice and truth. The film is set to hit theaters on April 18.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre: A Dark Chapter in History
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on April 13, 1919, in Amritsar, Punjab. Thousands of people had gathered at Jallianwala Bagh to peacefully protest against the Rowlatt Act and the arrest of pro-Indian activists Saifuddin Kitchlew and Satyapal.
In response, General R.E.H. Dyer ordered his troops, including Gurkha and Sikh infantry regiments, to block the exits and open fire on the unarmed crowd. The shooting continued until their ammunition was almost exhausted, resulting in the deaths and injuries of thousands of innocent people. This horrifying event became a turning point in India’s struggle for independence.
A Story That Needs to Be Told
Keshari Chapter 2 aims to bring this tragic event and the legal battle that followed into the spotlight. Akshay Kumar, known for his patriotic roles, is expected to deliver another powerful performance, while R. Madhavan’s portrayal of the British lawyer adds depth to the narrative.
With a mix of history, courtroom drama, and strong performances, the film is set to be an emotional and thought-provoking experience for audiences. Don’t miss it in theaters on April 18!
