Kiara Advani’s First Audition, Bollywood Dreams & Madhubala Wish

Kiara Advani might be ruling the big screen today, but her journey started with a dream that was planted way before she could even spell “Bollywood.” Over the last few years, she has risen from being the fresh face in small-town dramas to one of the most in-demand leading ladies in Hindi cinema. And 2025 is proving to be a golden year for her. She’s fresh off the buzz of War 2, the latest entry in YRF’s massive Spy Universe. The film pairs her with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR — two powerhouse stars — and gives her a larger-than-life role that’s already got audiences talking. Add to that her first-ever bikini scene, which took the internet by storm, and Kiara’s name is everywhere. But behind the headlines, premieres, and Instagram glamour, there’s a story of quiet determination, early inspiration, and one life-changing moment.

A Dream Since She Was Two

Not many can claim they knew their calling before preschool, but Kiara’s story is a rare one. In an old interview with Good Times, she confessed that she knew she wanted to act when she was barely two years old. While most toddlers were figuring out their ABCs, Kiara was glued to the TV, mimicking Bollywood stars and soaking in every little detail of their performances. “I think it was because of all the Bollywood jhatka-matkas and watching Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, and Kareena Kapoor on screen that made me realize this is exactly where I want to be,” she said.

Her parents, initially amused by her obsession, soon realized it wasn’t just a phase. Whether she was studying, playing sports, or attending school events, Kiara somehow always ended up in her room — the TV on, music blaring, acting out a dramatic scene or perfecting a dance move. “Eventually, my parents said, ‘Finish your graduation, then go for it. Give it a try. Live your dream.’” That support became her safety net and gave her the courage to pursue acting seriously.

One Audition That Changed Everything

Breaking into Bollywood is notoriously tough, but Kiara’s big break in 2014 was the result of pure preparation meeting the right opportunity. She auditioned for Fugly not expecting much, but what happened next still surprises her. “It was just one audition. I remember doing it, and right there and then, my director went back, saw the tape, and said, ‘You’re on.’ I was shocked,” she recalled.

For most aspiring actors, landing a role involves weeks of callbacks, multiple screen tests, and endless waiting. Kiara was ready for all that — but instead, the producer loved her tape instantly and gave the green light. “Everything happened at breakneck speed. Before I knew it, I was in workshops, costume trials, and reading scripts.” That debut may not have been a blockbuster, but it put her on the map and opened doors to bigger projects.

Bollywood Icons and a Madhubala Dream

Every actor has someone they look up to, and for Kiara, that’s Kareena Kapoor. “Personally, I love Kareena Kapoor. I think the kind of films she’s done, and the fact that she’s completely her own person, is so inspiring. She puts up no pretences, and that’s very endearing,” she said. That influence is visible in Kiara’s own choices — she’s worked across genres, from intense dramas like Shershaah to commercial entertainers like Kabir Singh and now War 2.

But there’s one dream role she still has her eyes on: portraying Madhubala in a biopic. “I would really like to play Madhubala. I feel like I don’t know enough about her, and I want to know a lot more. If I ever got that opportunity, I’d have to research her life, and that would be exciting,” she shared. Given Madhubala’s iconic status and timeless beauty, it’s a role that would demand both depth and grace — qualities Kiara has been steadily building over the years.

What She Wants in a Partner

In the same conversation, Kiara got candid about her personal life. While she’s known for keeping her private matters away from the public eye, she didn’t shy away from sharing the qualities she values in a partner. “I think he should be very confident about who he is, self-assured, working, witty, and humorous… all those qualities we all want in a man. Some might sound a little vain, like he should smell good and have those little cute quirks about him, but most importantly, he should be real and self-assured.”

She also admitted she wouldn’t mind dating someone from the film industry — something that would prove to be prophetic. Meeting Sidharth Malhotra on the sets of Shershaah not only gave Bollywood one of its most loved on-screen pairs, but also sparked a real-life romance that continues to charm fans.

From Childhood Dreamer to Bollywood Star

Kiara’s journey is a reminder that sometimes, your instincts at two years old can lead you exactly where you’re meant to be. Her story isn’t just about luck — it’s about years of quiet preparation, learning from her idols, and seizing the moment when it came. From a debut she landed in a single audition to starring in massive franchises, she has proven that the right mix of talent, timing, and tenacity can change everything. And with her dream of bringing Madhubala’s magic back to the screen, it’s clear Kiara’s story is still only in its early chapters.
