Fashion designer Masaba Gupta recently shared her experiences and insights about self-care during her pregnancy in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Expecting her first child with actor Satyadeep Mishra, Masaba discussed how this special time has shifted her focus towards personal well-being and spiritual practices.

Embracing Self-Care

For Masaba Gupta, pregnancy has been a time to prioritize self-care like never before. She revealed that she has found deep comfort in Vikram Seth’s translation of the 100 Mandalas and the Hanuman Chalisa. These practices help her stay grounded, especially after long and demanding workdays.

In her own words, Masaba explained, “I take care of my skin and belly with intention. I’m also very mindful of what I eat. I’ve distanced myself from people who don’t support or uplift me, and now I spend time with those who provide positive reinforcement.” She also mentioned that she has created a system that allows her to step away from work when necessary, without feeling guilty.

Challenging Negative Perceptions

Masaba Gupta also spoke about the negative perceptions often associated with pregnancy and motherhood. She wants to challenge these views and shift the narrative. “People often say, ‘Oh my God, your life is gonna change after a baby comes along,’ but they say it in a negative way. The whole point of having a baby is to embrace and welcome change,” she said.

In June of this year, Masaba took to her Instagram stories to talk about her struggle with body acne during pregnancy. She chose to view these breakouts positively, referring to them as ‘baby kisses’. She wrote, “Through my pregnancy, I’ve been experiencing new bouts of body acne that leave marks behind every few weeks. It used to trouble me, but I’ve started calling them ‘baby kisses’—a reminder of the newness of creation. If you’re going through something similar, remember that hormones can be unpredictable. You’re not alone.”

Masaba Gupta’s Acting Ventures

Beyond her fashion career, Masaba Gupta has also ventured into acting. She made her acting debut with the Netflix show Masaba Masaba and appeared in Prime Video’s anthology series Modern Love: Mumbai.

Masaba Gupta’s candid revelations about her journey through pregnancy offer a glimpse into how she’s navigating this transformative period with grace and positivity. Her focus on self-care, spiritual practices, and a positive mindset is inspiring to many who are on similar journeys.
