An Exclusive Conversation with Jay Kumar on Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show

In a heartfelt and honest conversation on Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show, Mimoh Chakraborty, opened up about his journey in the film industry, his struggles, growth, and dreams. Mimoh, the son of legendary actors Mithun Chakraborty and Yogita Bali, shared his thoughts on what it means to be an actor today and how he’s learned to embrace the ups and downs of his career.

Finding Strength in Honesty

Jay Kumar began by pointing out one quality that stood out during his research on Mimoh Chakraborty — his brutal honesty. When asked how he developed the confidence to be so open, Mimoh replied thoughtfully, “We all hide from our own truth. We know our flaws, where we’re going wrong, but it takes courage to accept it.”

Mimoh believes real growth starts with self-acceptance. “If I keep telling myself I’m perfect, I’ll never grow,” he said. He admits that it took time, but he’s finally able to say, “Yes, I’ve made mistakes, but I’m learning from them.”

“It’s Never Too Late to Start Over”

When Jay asked if Mimoh felt he started too late in embracing this mindset, his answer was simple: “It’s never too late.”

He believes that every moment offers a fresh start. “Every second is another chance to be better, to try again, to believe again,” he said. “It’s all in the mind.” For Mimoh, success is not about age or timelines—it’s about faith and keeping that fire alive, no matter how old you are.

15 Years in the Industry

Mimoh made his debut in 2008 with the film Jimmy, and it’s now been over 15 years in the industry. Jay pointed out that it was a great launchpad—Jimmy had everything a newcomer could ask for: action, romance, dance, and emotion.

Mimoh agreed, adding, “At that time, I really believed in the film.” Though the film didn’t perform well, Mimoh says every film is a gamble. “Sometimes you think it’s going to work, and it doesn’t. And sometimes, something small becomes magical.”

Acting: In the Blood, But Not Born Perfect

Being the son of two celebrated actors—Mithun Chakraborty and Yogita Bali—one might assume acting comes naturally. But Mimoh disagrees. “No one is born a complete actor,” he says. “Even the biggest stars grow with every project.”

He emphasized that skills are built over time. “Just like you train your body every day, you train your craft too. I didn’t have the passion or dedication 15 years ago that I have today.”

Inspired by Learning, Not Titles

Mimoh shared that he’s committed to always staying a student of his craft. “The moment you think you know everything, that’s the end of your growth,” he said.

He described how, like his gym routine that’s now gone from two hours to three, he’s always pushing himself. “You’ve got to challenge yourself daily.”

No Pressure from Family, Only Support

Unlike many families, where children face pressure to follow traditional careers, Mimoh said his parents gave him and his siblings full freedom. “My parents never forced me to be an actor,” he said.

In fact, Mimoh once dreamed of becoming an astronomer. “I was obsessed with NASA and the universe,” he smiled. “My parents only said one thing—whatever you choose, give it your 100%.”

Responding to Criticism with Grace

Jay brought up how critics felt Mimoh wasn’t prepared enough for his debut compared to other star kids. Mimoh’s response was mature and honest: “They were right. Back then, I didn’t have the preparation or mindset I have now.”

He added, “I was a boy then. I’m a man now. My dreams and goals have changed.”

New Dreams, New Approach

So what does Mimoh dream of today? “I just want to work,” he said, with sincerity. “Whether it’s films, web series, or TV—I want to act.”

He’s no longer focused on lead roles or screen time. “If the role is challenging and it excites me, even if it’s for just four days, I’ll do it.”

Loving the Challenges

Mimoh recently played a quirky character in Jogira Sara Ra Ra, a fun, light-hearted role that surprised many. “People said, ‘This is Mithun Chakraborty’s son?’ That was the biggest compliment,” he said proudly.

He’s happy to break expectations. “As an actor, if I can surprise the audience and make them forget who I am for a few minutes, I’ve done my job.”

He added, “I love challenges. Just like I push my limits in the gym, I want to push myself in my acting too.”

Mimoh Chakraborty: Always Keep Growing

Mimoh’s message is simple but powerful—stay honest, stay hungry, and never stop learning. He’s open about his mistakes, grateful for his journey, and excited about what lies ahead.

“I just want to entertain people,” he said. “Whether I’m making them laugh, cry, or think—if I can move someone, that’s real success to me.”

In an industry where appearances often matter more than honesty, Mimoh’s sincerity is refreshing. He doesn’t pretend to be perfect—he just wants to keep getting better. And that, perhaps, is the mark of a true artist.
