Orhan Awatramani, better known as Orry, recently made headlines for his debut acting role alongside renowned filmmaker Karan Johar in a new advertisement. The collaboration, part of a digital campaign for Crocs, has brought Orry into the spotlight, but he admits that working with Karan Johar was a nerve-wracking experience.
Orry Opens Up About His Experience with Karan Johar
Orry, who has become quite popular on social media, was both excited and anxious about working with Karan Johar. Despite their friendly off-screen relationship, Orry felt the need to keep things professional once they were in front of the camera. “Karan Johar and I are friendly; we chat at parties and have a good relationship. But on set, that friendship takes a backseat. Karan is a huge name in the industry with countless achievements. I couldn’t just walk in and act like we were friends. It’s a work environment, and Karan’s time is valuable,” Orry explained.
Orry made it clear that, while they may have a casual bond outside of work, on set he had to maintain a level of professionalism. “Even though we get along well off-camera, on the set, I was a junior actor working with someone as seasoned as Karan Johar. He’s an experienced director and producer, and I needed to respect that,” Orry said.
From Social Media to the Set
Reflecting on his journey, Orry noted the vast difference between his social media presence and his acting skills. “People think I can act, but that’s not entirely true. I’ve only been doing videos for a year, and I’m still learning. My first reel took eight hours to shoot, and now here I am, working with Karan Johar. It’s been quite a journey,” he shared.
On-Screen Chemistry and Real-Life Bond
When it comes to their on-screen chemistry, Orry acknowledged that it might look like they’re seamlessly interacting, but it wasn’t as effortless for him as it might appear. “The bond we share in real life does translate on screen, but it wasn’t easy for me. Karan can deliver lines effortlessly and in just one take, while I was still trying to find my footing,” Orry admitted.
A Humble Approach to a Big Break
Despite the high-profile nature of the ad and the opportunity to work with Karan Johar, Orry remained humble about his role. “Most people would dream of being launched by Karan Johar, and here I was, getting that chance. But I had to remind myself that I was just a junior actor and needed to respect the process,” he said.
Looking Ahead
Orry continues to work on various advertisements and projects. Meanwhile, Karan Johar is busy promoting his upcoming show, Call Me Bae. As Orry reflects on his experience, it’s clear he’s grateful for the opportunity and the learning experience that came with it.
