As Raksha Bandhan 2024 arrives, celebrated musicians like Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Palash Sen share nostalgic memories of their childhood and their special bonds with their siblings. Here’s a look at their heartfelt reflections.

Sonu Nigam and His Sisters

Sonu Nigam, the eldest among his siblings, has two younger sisters: Meenal Nigam, a yoga teacher, and Teesha Nigam, a singer.

Sonu’s Memories: Sonu fondly recalls dancing on the terrace with Meenal when they were kids. “When I was 6 and she was 5, we’d mimic the dance steps I learned from concerts,” he shares. “We don’t dance together anymore, but those moments were special.” He also misses the days when he used to pick up his youngest sister, Teesha, from the bus stop on his bicycle. “My parents loved seeing us together,” Sonu adds.

Meenal’s Thoughts: Meenal reminisces about their trips to their uncle’s house in Delhi. “We used to sleep on wooden beds on the terrace, stargazing and chatting all night,” she says. She also remembers their movie nights, especially their love for horror films. “We’d watch movies in a dark room, screaming and covering our faces, while Teesha was sent to another room. Those were the best times, and we try to relive them whenever we can.”

Teesha’s Reflections: For Teesha, the most cherished memories are of when Sonu would return from his tours with gifts just for her. “He’d come back with chocolates and toys, making me feel like a princess,” she recalls. “Those were such innocent and joyful times.”

Palash Sen and His Sister

Dr. Palash Sen, known for his music, has a younger sister named Dahlia Sen Oberoi, who is a lawyer and author.

Palash’s Experience: Palash values the unchanged bond he shares with Dahlia. “Despite growing up in a large family and losing some relatives, our connection remains strong,” he says. “We still do many of the things we enjoyed as kids.”

Dahlia’s Memories: Dahlia remembers her brother waiting for her after school, come rain or shine. “Even on days when I had extra classes, he’d be there waiting for me,” she shares. “Seeing him light up when he saw me was always a highlight. I miss that routine now that we’ve grown up.”

Shaan and His Sister

Shaan, another well-known singer, has an elder sister named Sagarika Mukerjee, who is also a singer.

Shaan’s Feelings: Shaan describes his relationship with Sagarika as that of close friends and mutual support. “We still laugh at the silliest things and share a quirky sense of humor,” he says. “I miss spending time with her. With her living in Italy and our busy schedules, we don’t see each other as often. But whenever we’re together, it feels just like old times.”
