Filmmaker Rohit Shetty and actor Ajay Devgn are all set to reunite once again for Golmaal 5, the next instalment in one of Indian cinema’s most successful comedy franchises. Seven years after Golmaal Again (2017), the much-loved duo is ready to bring back the madness, with filming scheduled to begin in February 2026.
Over the past two decades, the Golmaal franchise has consistently delivered box-office hits, cementing its place as a crowd favourite.Golmaal 5 will go on floors with a marathon shooting schedule starting towards the end of February, marking Shetty and Devgn’s next major collaboration.
“Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn are extremely confident about Golmaal 5. They believe the script is funnier than the previous four films. While it retains the comic essence of the franchise, it explores an idea that has never been attempted before in the Golmaal universe,” a source revealed.
Non-Stop Shoot, Big 2027 Release
Rohit Shetty is expected to wrap up filming for his Rakesh Maria biopic starring John Abraham by the end of January, following which he will immediately shift focus to Golmaal 5. The comedy sequel is being positioned as one of Shetty’s biggest theatrical releases in the coming years.
The film is slated to be shot non-stop from February to July, with the makers locking in a theatrical release in the first half of 2027.
“Golmaal 5 is easily one of the most awaited comedy films in Indian cinema. The team is committed to an uninterrupted schedule to maintain momentum,” the source added.
Original Cast to Return
In addition to Ajay Devgn, the entire original Golmaal gang is set to reunite for the fifth instalment, promising an even higher dose of chaos, slapstick humour, and ensemble-driven comedy. While further casting details are being kept under wraps, insiders suggest the “madness quotient” will be taken several notches higher this time.
With Rohit Shetty’s proven track record in mass entertainers and Ajay Devgn’s long-standing association with the franchise, Golmaal 5 is already shaping up to be one of the big-ticket releases of 2027.
