In the runup to the Oscars, SS Rajamouli’s RRR continues to make India proud at international awards. Recently, the movie won four awards at the Hollywood Critics Association Awards (HCAA), winning the accolades of Best International Film, Best Action Film, Best Stunts, and Best Original Song category. It also won a Special Spotlight Award.

What makes this win gratifying is that RRR beat other movies like Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick in the Best Action Film category and Santiago Mitre’s Argentina, 1985 in the Best International Film category. The award was accepted by director SS Rajamouli and actor Ram Charan who dedicated the award to Indian filmmakers. Rajamouli said, “Aaah! The best International film…again to all my fellow filmmakers in India, it is for all of us to believe we can truly make International films! Thank you HCAA for that…it means a lot. Thank you very much…a lot. Jai Hind!”. Actor Ram Charan could also been beaming with joy and pride as he addressed HCA, “ “I didn’t expect to come up (on the) stage, because I was told by my director to accompany him, so…thank you so much for giving us all this love, it’s just a great response, so we’re going to come back with better films and entertain you all. Thank you so much, thank you HCA!”

Besides thanking the HCA and dedicating it to Indian filmmakers, Rajamouli also shared tidbits regarding the stunts in the movie, majority of which were performed by NTR Jr. and Ram Charan. He also explained how there were no more than 2 to 3 shots in which body doubles were used and thanked his whole team, the  stunt coordinators and choreographers who were involved with the movie.

With yet another endorsement, Team RRR has inched closer to the Oscars, which will be held on March 12th. RRR’s song Naatu Naatu has already bagged a nomination in the Original Song category.

Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show congratulates the RRR team for this big win and for bringing pride to India. We and our audience wish the very best to the team and hope they bring Oscars home.
