Salman Khan’s much-awaited war drama Battle of Galwan is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film features the superstar in a never-seen-before avatar — rugged, intense, and inspired by true events. Major Portions Already Filmed In Ladakh
According to exclusive industry sources, the production has been progressing swiftly since filming began in September 2025. A large part of the film — including its high-octane action sequences and emotionally charged war scenes — has already been shot against the breathtaking backdrop of Ladakh.
“The shoot has been running smoothly. Most of the key and challenging action sequences are done. The team is expected to wrap up filming by December 2025, after which director Apoorva Lakhia will dive into post-production,” a source close to the film shared.
Makers Eye Mid-2026 Release
Earlier reports suggested that Battle of Galwan might hit theaters in either January or June 2026. However, with filming continuing till the end of this year, an early release now seems unlikely. “A January release obviously won’t be possible now. But a June 2026 release is seriously being considered. The team is also exploring July or August, depending on how the post-production progresses,” the source added.
Fans Expect a Birthday Surprise From Salman
After Shah Rukh Khan’s explosive teaser for King dropped on his 60th birthday earlier this month, Salman Khan fans are eagerly awaiting a similar surprise. With Salman turning 60 on December 27, speculation is rife that the makers of Battle of Galwan may unveil a teaser or announcement video on that date. However, sources maintain that nothing has been confirmed yet.

The film also features Chitrangda Singh in a key role, adding depth and emotion to the patriotic narrative. Though early reports hinted that Amitabh Bachchan might appear in a cameo, director Apoorva Lakhia recently clarified that Big B is not part of the project.
