Kunal Kemmu’s latest Hindi comedy series Single Papa has been winning hearts ever since its release, drawing appreciation from both audiences and critics for its warmth, humour, and emotional depth. Adding to the growing praise, the actor’s wife, Soha Ali Khan, recently shared her thoughts on the show, calling it a deeply moving experience and lauding Kunal’s performance.
Soha took to social media to express her admiration, describing her husband as “not-so-single but immensely talented.” She added that watching Single Papa left her heart full, a sentiment that resonated strongly with fans of the series.

A Heartwarming Story of Unexpected Fatherhood
Single Papa stars Kunal Kemmu as Gaurav, a carefree and immature man whose life takes an unexpected turn when his wife leaves him, citing his lack of responsibility. Despite being labelled a man-child, Gaurav harbours a deep desire to become a father. His journey begins when he discovers an abandoned baby in his car, an incident that sparks his determination to adopt the child and raise it on his own.
What follows is a humorous yet emotional ride as Gaurav navigates the challenges of single parenthood. From dealing with a sceptical child welfare officer, played by Neha Dhupia, to handling the shock and concern of his own family, Gaurav’s transformation from an irresponsible adult to a devoted parent forms the emotional core of the series. His journey is made even more entertaining by the presence of quirky friends and the unexpected support of a male nanny, fondly referred to as “Manny.”
Kunal Kemmu on the Irony of His Character
Kunal Kemmu reflected on the deeper layers of Gaurav’s character. He explained that Gaurav’s initial decision to become a father does not stem from maturity or preparedness, but rather from ego and stubbornness.
“I think even for Gaurav in the show, uski pehle zidd hoti hai,” Kunal shared. “He doesn’t really understand what becoming a parent entails. Somewhere, he takes that decision out of ego, and then fulfils it in ego as well. It’s only later, when he faces the real difficulties of fatherhood, that reality hits him.”
The actor added that the show deliberately highlights the irony of Gaurav’s mindset, showing how romanticised ideas of parenting are challenged once responsibility truly sets in.
A Performance That Strikes an Emotional Chord
Kunal Kemmu’s portrayal of Gaurav has been widely appreciated for its sincerity and comic timing, striking a balance between laughter and vulnerability. His performance anchors the series, making Gaurav’s growth believable and emotionally engaging.
With its relatable premise, gentle humour, and heartfelt storytelling, Single Papa stands out as a refreshing take on modern parenthood. Soha Ali Khan’s glowing endorsement only reinforces what viewers already feel — that the series is not just entertaining, but also deeply touching.
Jay-Ho Catch-Up
Single Papa succeeds not just as a comedy, but as a heartfelt exploration of responsibility, growth, and unconventional family dynamics. With Kunal Kemmu delivering one of his most endearing performances to date and the series striking an emotional balance between humour and realism, the show leaves a lasting impression. Soha Ali Khan’s heartfelt praise reflects what many viewers feel — that Single Papa is a warm, honest story that lingers long after the final episode, reminding audiences that parenthood is less about perfection and more about intention, love, and learning along the way.
