Man of masses, the ‘Messiah’ actor Sonu Sood, is a name to be reckoned with not only in the Hindi film industry but also in the South. Recently, the actor spilled some beans on his experience working in both industries in a conversation with ANI. The conversation took a hilarious turn when Sonu revealed that he was bamboozled upon learning about the power nap culture on South Indian film sets.
During one of his shoots in Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Sonu discovered that the entire unit took an hour-long break during lunchtime, and then dozed off for a quick snooze. “I used to be gobsmacked. They’d quickly devour their food in just 20 minutes, and then everyone would catch forty winks in a corner. I was shooting in Madurai, and when I glanced around, all I saw was everyone sleeping. That’s how they roll there,” he exclaimed.
When Sonu asked about this practice, a crew member explained that the power nap helped them feel refreshed and energized.
Another interesting fact Sonu Sood revealed was that the South Indian film industry prefers a “sunrise call sheet,” meaning that the first scene of the film during the wee hours of arly in the morning, and the cast and crew report to the set an hour before sunrise. Breakfast is only served after the morning shoot wraps up, as the team prioritizes work over food.
n the interview, Sonu also commended the South Indian film industry for its high level of professionalism and organization. He noted that everyone on set is well-informed about the movie’s release date, shooting schedule, and specific arrival and departure times.
Sonu’s next project is the action-thriller film “Fateh,” which is directed by Vaibhav Misra and features Jacqueline Fernandez, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Sahher Bambba.
