Good news for Star Trek fans in India! The much-loved sci-fi series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is back with Season 3 and will be available to stream on JioHotstar (OTTplay Premium) starting July 18, 2025. The show will release one episode every week, keeping fans excited until the season ends on September 12, 2025.
What to Expect in Season 3
Season 3 continues the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the USS Enterprise, picking up from where Season 2 left off. Set in the year 2305, the crew embarks on new and risky space missions, exploring unknown planets and facing new challenges.
Each episode has its own unique style — some will be filled with action and suspense, while others will focus more on emotional and moral dilemmas. This season stays true to the original Star Trek spirit, keeping the storytelling episodic and engaging.
Returning Cast and Characters
The lead cast is back, with:
- Anson Mount as Captain Pike
- Ethan Peck as Spock
- Rebecca Romijn as Number One
Other fan favorites returning include Martin Quinn, Babs Olusanmokun, Melissa Navia, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, and Jess Bush. Many of these characters are younger versions of those from Star Trek: The Original Series, making it exciting for both new viewers and long-time fans.
Production Journey and Delays
Though Season 3 was announced back in March 2023, the initial planning had already started in June 2022. The team planned to start shooting in May 2023, but due to the Hollywood labor strikes, the production was delayed.
Filming finally started in December 2023 and wrapped up by May 2024. Most of the shooting took place at CBS Stages Canada in Mississauga, Ontario.
Season Premiere: Hegemony, Part II
Season 3 kicks off with a powerful opening episode titled “Hegemony, Part II”. It continues the story of the dangerous alien race known as the Gorn, which left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 2. In this episode, Pike and his crew face a serious crisis involving kidnapped crew members and a threat that could affect the entire Federation.
Like the previous seasons, this one also focuses on deeper themes such as personal growth, tough ethical decisions, and diplomatic struggles, which have always been a core part of the Star Trek legacy.
Is There a Season 4?
Yes! The creators Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, along with production companies like CBS Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment, have already started working on Season 4 as of April 2024.
