Marvel fans, get ready! Tenoch Huerta Mejía is officially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Namor in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday. The exciting announcement came during a special livestream by Marvel on March 26.
Star-Studded Cast Revealed
Marvel used the livestream to reveal some of the cast members joining the next big Avengers film. Big names like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), and Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) are all set to return. Florence Pugh, Letitia Wright, Vanessa Kirby, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are also confirmed to appear.
Now, Tenoch Huerta has joined that list, reprising his role as Namor, the underwater anti-hero introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
A Controversial Comeback
Huerta’s return is big news, especially after a difficult year. In 2023, musician and activist María Elena Ríos accused Huerta of sexual assault. She referred to him as a “sexual predator” after a podcast episode she was featured in was shared online by the activist group Poder Prieto.
Huerta had been a spokesperson for the organization, and Ríos was a former member. Following the allegations, Huerta released a statement saying the claims were false and not supported by any evidence. He denied the accusations, stating he could no longer stay silent as the story spread.
As a result of the controversy, Huerta stepped down from his role in the Netflix film Fiesta en la Madriguera and wasn’t featured in marketing for the film Pedro Páramo. Since then, he has kept a low profile—until now.

The Return of Namor
Fans first met Namor in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where Huerta played the powerful underwater ruler from the hidden city of Talokan. While he was more of an enemy in that film, Namor wasn’t a full villain—he was a complex anti-hero with his own motives. His return in Avengers: Doomsday hints at a much larger role in the Marvel universe.
Facing Doctor Doom
The upcoming movie will feature another huge surprise: the return of Robert Downey Jr. Not as Iron Man, but this time as the villain Doctor Doom (Victor von Doom). This sets up an epic battle between the Avengers and one of Marvel’s most dangerous villains.
Bringing Namor into this fight adds even more excitement. With his powers and unique background, he could either help the Avengers—or make things even more complicated.
Release Date Set
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. With a cast full of fan favorites and surprising returns, it’s shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Marvel films yet.
Stay tuned for more updates, and if you missed the official cast reveal, you can still watch the livestream online.
