Romantic drama Tu Yaa Main, starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor, hit theatres on February 13, strategically timed ahead of Valentine’s Day. Despite being directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the film has struggled to generate strong box office momentum. While expectations were moderate, the numbers so far indicate a slow and steady run rather than a breakout performance.
Trade analysts suggest that while the film hasn’t delivered major spikes, it has avoided a complete collapse, largely due to stable word of mouth in select urban circuits.
Tu Yaa Main Box Office Collection Day 5
Tu Yaa Main opened with Rs 0.60 crore on Day 1 (Friday). It witnessed a strong jump on Saturday (Day 2), collecting Rs 1.45 crore, benefiting from Valentine’s weekend footfalls.
However, the upward trend did not sustain. On Sunday (Day 3), collections dropped by 44.83%, earning Rs 0.80 crore. The slide continued on Monday (Day 4), with a further 46.25% dip, bringing in Rs 0.43 crore.
According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the film collected approximately Rs 0.12 crore on Day 5 (Tuesday, February 17, 2026). Final numbers are awaited.
With this, the film’s estimated total India net collection now stands at around Rs 3.28 crore.
Occupancy Trends on Day 5
Breaking down Tuesday’s occupancy figures:
- Morning shows: 4.86%
- Afternoon shows: 8.95%
- Evening shows: 9.74%
- Night shows: 14.89%
The noticeable increase during evening and night slots suggests stronger traction among urban and younger audiences. However, overall occupancy remains low, indicating limited mass appeal beyond metro centres.

What Impacted Tu Yaa Main’s Box Office Performance?
Industry observers point to multiple factors behind the film’s underwhelming performance. Firstly, the perception that the film is a remake may have reduced novelty value among audiences. Curiosity-driven footfalls often play a crucial role in the first weekend, and that spark appears to have been muted.
Secondly, the ongoing eight-week OTT window has altered audience behaviour. Many viewers now prefer to wait for digital release, particularly for romantic dramas that are not mounted as large-scale theatrical spectacles.
Additionally, competition from other releases and limited promotional aggression may have affected its opening momentum.
Can Tu Yaa Main Recover?
With weekday collections stabilising at lower levels, the key question is whether Tu Yaa Main can witness growth in its second weekend. Romantic dramas often rely on positive word of mouth and repeat viewing, especially among couples and younger demographics.
If the film manages to hold steady through the week and register even a modest jump on Friday, it could improve its lifetime trajectory. However, given the current trend, the road ahead appears challenging.
Jay-Ho Exclusive
Tu Yaa Main reflects a growing pattern in mid-budget romantic films — steady but subdued theatrical runs in an OTT-dominated landscape. While the performances of Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor have drawn appreciation in select circles, box office numbers remain modest.
All eyes are now on the upcoming weekend to determine whether the film can convert its slow momentum into sustainable growth or remain a niche urban performer.
