Zeenat Aman recently took to Instagram to share a nostalgic moment from her career. She posted a picture from the IIFA Awards held over a decade ago, where she was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Cinema award. In her post, Aman reminisces about a time when she was somewhat out of the public eye and reluctant to attend such events.

The Reluctance to Reappear

In her Instagram post, Zeenat Aman shared a snapshot of herself in a dazzling black gown, holding her IIFA Award and flashing a radiant smile. She noted that there aren’t many pictures from this period of her life and even fewer glamorous ones. Reflecting on this, she wrote, “Those were the quiet years – acutely so for me, but probably a phase that many middle-aged women can relate to.”

Aman explained that the summer of 2010 was a period of relative obscurity for her. At that time, she was deeply involved in homemaking and only occasionally engaged in work-related appearances. She admitted that receiving an invitation to the IIFA Awards was unexpected and surprising given her limited public presence.

A Memorable Experience

Despite her initial hesitation, Aman was persuaded by the awards committee to attend the ceremony. She recalled how she, along with her two sons, traveled to Colombo, Sri Lanka for the event. The trip turned out to be a delightful experience for her. She was honored with the award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema, which rekindled her connection with her craft. The event also provided ample opportunities for people-watching, which she found enjoyable.

In her post, Aman shared a humorous observation about the event: “You see, I am more an observer than a talker. The event was sponsored by a renowned alcohol company, and their vodka kept the attendees in unguarded, high spirits! There were enough shenanigans underway to fill a gossip magazine, but you know me, I believe discretion is the better part of valor.”
