Reflecting on her past roles, she revealed, “There was a time I could read the script backward and know that in the last ten pages, there would definitely be at least two crying scenes for me.” She expressed her desire to break away from this typecasting and explore more diverse and challenging roles. Fortunately, she has started to see some change, with new opportunities allowing her to branch out from the typical “damsel in distress” roles.

Dugal also credited the rise of streaming services for giving her career a significant boost. She noted that platforms like Amazon Prime Video have provided a valuable opportunity for actors like her to reach a broader audience. “Clearly, the streaming services have given me a lease of life,” she said. Many of her previous films, which she felt deserved more recognition, did not receive the release or attention they needed. Streaming platforms have allowed these smaller films to find their audience and provided actors with more visibility.
She further elaborated, “There were many films that I had done which hadn’t seen the kind of release they deserved. There were many small films. Besides the fact that I got a lot of work, shows like Mirzapur have given me access to a wide audience. This is when I felt that streaming services are a space for smaller films to find an audience.”
