Shraddha Kapoor’s upcoming film Eetha has reportedly secured a major theatrical distribution deal ahead of its December release. According to a Pinkvilla report published on November 1, PVR Inox has acquired the film’s all-India theatrical distribution rights for Rs 90 crore. The agreement is reportedly structured as an advance deal, putting the Laxman Utekar directorial in the spotlight even before its theatrical arrival.

The reported agreement marks a significant pre-release business development for the female-led drama. However, the makers and PVR Inox have not publicly disclosed the complete financial terms of the deal, and the reported Rs 90 crore figure has not been independently confirmed.

PVR Inox Reportedly Acquires Eetha Distribution Rights for Rs 90 Crore

According to the Pinkvilla report, PVR Inox has secured the domestic theatrical distribution rights of Eetha for Rs 90 crore. The agreement is reportedly an advance-based arrangement, although further details about its structure and financial conditions remain unavailable.

The reported deal has drawn attention because of the film’s subject and its commercial expectations. Eetha centres on Maharashtra’s traditional performing arts and follows the experiences of a female folk performer. The reported distribution agreement suggests that the film has attracted substantial pre-release interest, although its eventual box-office performance will depend on audience response after release.

Shraddha Kapoor Returns After Stree 2 Success

Eetha marks Shraddha Kapoor’s return to cinemas following the success of Stree 2, which became one of the biggest Hindi box-office releases of 2024. The upcoming film also brings her together with director Laxman Utekar for the first time.

Utekar previously directed Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal, which also crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the box office. With both Stree 2 and Chhaava delivering major commercial results, expectations surrounding the collaboration have attracted attention. However, Eetha is a different kind of project, built around folk performance, a female protagonist and the cultural world of Maharashtra’s Tamasha tradition.

Eetha Explores the World of Maharashtra’s Tamasha Artistes

The film draws inspiration from the lives of Tamasha performers, particularly legendary Lavani artiste Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar. Its recently released trailer shows Shraddha in traditional Maharashtrian attire, performing Lavani while facing personal struggles, heartbreak and the challenges associated with life as a folk artiste.

At the trailer launch, Laxman Utekar clarified that Eetha is not a direct biopic of Vithabai. Instead, the story draws from real incidents and the experiences of multiple performers, making it a fictionalised drama inspired by the world of traditional folk artists.

This distinction is important because the film is not being presented as a straightforward account of one performer’s life. Its narrative appears to bring together elements of the wider Tamasha tradition and the personal experiences of women associated with the art form.

Eetha Cast, Music and Theatrical Release Date

Alongside Shraddha Kapoor, Eetha features Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Nana Patekar, Siddharth Jadhav and Anant Joshi. The film is backed by Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, with music composed by Ajay-Atul.

Eetha is scheduled to release in theatres on December 4, 2026. With the reported Rs 90 crore PVR Inox distribution agreement adding to its pre-release attention, the film now has a significant commercial milestone ahead of its theatrical debut.

The reported deal has placed Eetha among the notable upcoming Hindi releases to watch. Whether the film converts that pre-release interest into a strong box-office performance will become clearer once audiences see Shraddha Kapoor’s portrayal of a Lavani performer on the big screen.
