In a significant milestone for cross-cultural cinema, the Indo-Vietnamese romantic drama ‘Love in Vietnam’ is all set to charm audiences in South Korea. Starring Shantanu Maheshwari (Gangubai Kathiawadi fame) and Avneet Kaur (Tiku Weds Sheru), the film will hit Korean theatres on December 8.

This release marks a unique achievement for the film, which holds the distinction of being the first-ever collaboration between India and Vietnam in Hindi cinema.

A Tale Inspired by Classic Literature

Directed by Rahhat Shah Kazmi, the film is described as a heart-wrenching love story inspired by Sabahattin Ali’s best-selling novel, “Madonna in a Fur Coat.” The movie originally released in India on September 12 and is now expanding its horizons to the East Asian market, known for its deep appreciation of emotional storytelling.

Cast Reactions: “Surreal” and “A Gift”

The lead actors have expressed immense gratitude for the film’s international journey, particularly praising the sensitivity of Korean audiences.

Avneet Kaur’s Excitement

Avneet Kaur shared her joy about the film finding a new home in Korea.

“It’s something the whole world smiles about, including me. The idea that our film will now live in Korean theatres feels like a gift. I want to be there when it releases, just to soak in their energy and thank them for letting our story into their world. I feel nothing but excitement and gratitude.”

Shantanu Maheshwari on Korean Fans

Shantanu Maheshwari described the experience as “surreal,” noting how perceptive the Korean audience has been.

“For me, the most touching part is seeing how Korean fans are responding to the small emotional details in the film. They notice things we never expected anyone outside India and Vietnam to pick up… I’ve always been curious about Korea’s artistic culture, so the fact that our film is opening there feels like life coming full circle.”

Production Credits

The film is presented by Zee Studios and produced by a consortium including Blue Lotus Creatives, Innovations India, Rahat Kazmi Film Studios, Zebaish Entertainment, Tariq Khan Productions, and Mango Tree Entertainment.

With its release in South Korea, Love in Vietnam continues to build bridges through cinema, proving that stories of love transcend borders and languages.
