Ranveer Singh is closing 2025 on a high, riding the box office success of Dhurandhar, and his upcoming slate signals an even more ambitious phase ahead. Among his most anticipated projects is the post-apocalyptic thriller Pralay, which is now officially gearing up to roll. The film is expected to go on floors by mid-2026, following the completion of Ranveer’s commitments for Don 3.
Don 3 to Take Priority in Early 2026
According to industry reports, Don 3, directed by Farhan Akhtar, will be the first project to commence filming next year. Once Ranveer wraps up his schedule for the action franchise, he will shift his focus to Pralay. A source close to the development revealed that the actor’s final filming calendar will be locked in January 2026, once the Don 3 timelines are finalised.
This sequencing allows Ranveer to dedicate uninterrupted time to Pralay, which is being mounted as a technically ambitious and physically demanding project.
A Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Thriller with a Social Core
Directed by Jai Mehta, Pralay is described as a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller that goes beyond genre tropes. The film reportedly follows a lone protagonist’s fight for survival in a world ravaged by collapse, using the zombie outbreak as a metaphor to explore deeper themes of moral decay, emotional isolation, and societal breakdown.

The narrative is said to reimagine Mumbai as a dystopian city, drawing stylistic comparisons to The Hunger Games. Familiar urban spaces will be transformed into haunting, abandoned zones, lending the film a striking visual identity rarely seen in Hindi cinema.
Mumbai to Undergo a Visual Transformation
Insiders suggest that Pralay will involve a large-scale visual overhaul of Mumbai. Several parts of the city will be recreated as devastated landscapes, combining elaborate physical sets with AI-driven digital extensions. Portions of the film will be shot on location in Mumbai, after which the production will move to other destinations to expand the film’s post-apocalyptic universe.
The extended prep time is reportedly being used to fine-tune world-building, visual effects, and production design, ensuring the setting feels immersive and authentic.
A Major Milestone for Director Jai Mehta
Pralay marks a significant career milestone for Jai Mehta, who previously co-directed the acclaimed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story alongside his father, filmmaker Hansal Mehta, and later helmed the web series Lootere. The Ranveer Singh-starrer will be Jai Mehta’s feature film directorial debut, and is being positioned as a bold, concept-driven project aimed at pushing the boundaries of mainstream Indian cinema.
Dhurandhar Strengthens Ranveer’s Momentum
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues its strong run at the box office, reinforcing Ranveer Singh’s current streak. Backed by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios along with Jio Studios, the spy thriller also stars Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt, and has emerged as one of the year’s most talked-about releases.
With Don 3 and Pralay lined up back-to-back, Ranveer Singh appears poised to headline two vastly different yet equally ambitious cinematic worlds—cementing his reputation as one of the most versatile and daring stars of his generation.
