Ramayana Team ‘Disappointed’ After Ranbir Kapoor’s Love and War Faces Another Delay

Ranbir Kapoor’s much-anticipated film Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has reportedly been postponed once again. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the delay has impacted the planned release timelines and has also left members of the Ramayana team disappointed.

Ranbir currently has two major projects lined up — Love and War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana — both of which have been eagerly awaited by fans. While Love and War was earlier slated for a March 2026 release, Ramayana was expected to arrive in theatres during Diwali.

Love and War Faces Another Delay

As per the report, Bhansali initially planned to release Love and War around Eid 2026, but the film’s shooting schedule has now been extended until May 2026. This has made the earlier release plans unfeasible.

Sources cited by the portal claim that the film is now likely to hit theatres in August or September 2026, with the final date expected to be announced soon.

“Ranbir, Alia and Vicky have blocked their calendars till May 2026 now. All their prior commitments stand delayed due to the increase in shoot days for Love And War,” a source stated.

Impact on Ramayana’s Schedule

The delay has reportedly affected planning around Ramayana, as the makers were hoping for a minimum six-month gap between the release of Love and War and Ramayana. With the revised timeline, that gap may now be reduced.

“There’s no way for Love & War to release in June. Bhansali is now attempting an August or September 2026 release,” the insider added, noting that extended shoot days have also led to budget increases for Love and War.

First Look Update

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the first look of Love and War could be unveiled in January 2026, although there has been no official confirmation from the makers so far.

What We Know About Ramayana

In Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor will be seen as Ram, while Sai Pallavi essays the role of Sita. Yash will portray Ravana, with Sunny Deol and Ravie Dubey playing Hanuman and Laxman, respectively. The cast also includes Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Sheeba Chaddha, and others.

Reports indicate that the makers have already completed the edit of the first instalment of the film.
