Actor Kangana Ranaut is set to headline another film inspired by real events. Her upcoming project, tentatively titled Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, will revisit the dramatic incident that unfolded at Cama and Albless Hospital during the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The film will reportedly recreate the tense moments of November 26, 2008, when terrorists Ajmal Kasab and Ismail Khan stormed the hospital premises. The attack led to the killing of security guards and injuries to hospital staff members as the assailants attempted to take control of the building.
Story To Focus On Hospital Workers
Unlike many films that focus on the combat response to the attacks, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata will centre its narrative on the hospital’s blue-collar staff who worked to protect patients during the crisis.
During the terrifying hours of the attack, hospital workers quickly implemented safety measures. Doors and windows were shut, lights were switched off, and mobile phones were silenced to avoid detection by the attackers. Staff members also moved patients to safer parts of the building while trying to maintain calm despite the uncertainty surrounding the situation.
The hospital soon became one of the key locations in the early phase of the attacks, with intense exchanges of fire taking place between the terrorists and the Mumbai Police in the surrounding area.
Kangana Ranaut To Play A Nurse
In the film, Kangana Ranaut will portray a staff nurse, representing the courage and determination shown by hospital workers during the crisis.
Actor Girija Oak will also appear in a significant role. Oak is known for her performances in films such as Shor in the City, Qala and Jawan, as well as the series Inspector Zende.
The film aims to highlight the bravery of ordinary individuals who stepped up during one of India’s most tragic terror incidents.

Directorial Debut Of Manoj Tapadia
The project will be directed by Manoj Tapadia, marking his feature film directorial debut. Tapadia previously worked as a copywriter and later contributed to dialogues and songs before transitioning into advertising.
The makers have described the film as a “cinematic tribute to the unsung heroes” whose actions helped save lives during the attacks.
Production Status And Release Plan
The shooting of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata has already been completed, and the film is currently in the post-production stage. The makers are planning to release the film in late 2026.
Kangana Ranaut’s Upcoming Projects
Apart from this project, Kangana Ranaut will next appear alongside R. Madhavan in an upcoming thriller directed by A. L. Vijay.
She is also reportedly in discussions with filmmaker Aanand L. Rai for Tanu Weds Manu 3, although the project has not yet been officially confirmed.
Jay-Ho Today
With its focus on the courage of hospital workers during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata aims to spotlight the stories of unsung heroes who acted bravely during one of the most traumatic moments in modern Indian history. The film is expected to offer a powerful, human perspective on the events of that night when it releases in 2026.
