Ajay Devgn has begun shooting for Chauhaan in Kargil, Ladakh, marking his return to the region after filming LOC: Kargil in 2003. Directed by Neeraj Yadav, the upcoming war drama is produced by Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 1, 2027.
Ajay Devgn Begins Shooting for Chauhaan in Kargil
Ajay Devgn has started filming Chauhaan in Kargil, with key scenes planned in the mountainous region, according to a report by Bollywood Hungama.
A source quoted by the publication said the actor arrived in Ladakh a few days before filming began. The production team reportedly secured the required permissions in advance and made arrangements for the shoot.
The region’s cold weather is also expected to contribute to the setting of the war drama. However, the makers have not disclosed which specific scenes are being filmed in Kargil.
The location brings a familiar landscape back into Devgn’s filmography as he takes on another project centred on a military-themed story.
Why Is Chauhaan a Significant Return to Ladakh for Ajay Devgn?
Devgn previously filmed important scenes for J. P. Dutta’s LOC: Kargil in Ladakh in 2003.
The earlier film depicted the Kargil War and featured Devgn as part of a large ensemble cast. His return to the region for Chauhaan creates a connection between two war-related projects separated by more than two decades.
The geographical setting is also significant. Ladakh became a separate Union Territory in 2019, with Leh and Kargil as its two districts.
While the two films share a connection through their subject matter and location, details about Chauhaan’s plot and its specific military setting remain limited.
Who Is Directing and Producing Chauhaan?
Neeraj Yadav is directing Chauhaan, with Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma among the producers.
The project is associated with Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions. Jio Studios is also presenting the film.
The makers announced Chauhaan on June 25, 2026, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Devgn’s late father, action director Veeru Devgan.
The announcement introduced the film with a promotional video featuring the song “Jumma Chumma De De” in the background. It ended with the dialogue, “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhaan aa raha hai.”
The project also marks Devgn’s first collaboration with filmmaker and producer Aanand L. Rai.
When Will Ajay Devgn’s Chauhaan Release?
Chauhaan is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 1, 2027.
The date places the film in the early-October theatrical calendar, approximately a year after the reported October 2 release window associated with Devgn’s previous film, Drishyam The Conclusion.
The makers have not provided further release details in the supplied announcement material. Information about the film’s complete cast, additional filming locations and promotional schedule should be confirmed through official updates.
For now, the start of filming in Kargil is the latest development in the project’s journey towards its 2027 theatrical release.
