Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated film Spirit may miss its scheduled theatrical release on March 5, 2027, according to a new report. The makers are reportedly exploring a later release window, although neither an official postponement nor a revised release date has been announced.
The development comes as Prabhas’ upcoming film schedule reportedly undergoes changes. His period action drama Fauzi, previously expected to arrive in December 2026, is also reportedly targeting a later release. These scheduling developments have raised fresh questions about when audiences will finally see Spirit in theatres.
Spirit Release Date Update: Will Prabhas’ Film Miss March 5, 2027?
According to Variety India, the makers of Spirit are considering a release window beyond the previously announced March 5, 2027 date. The report indicates a possible change in the film’s release plans, but the production team has not publicly confirmed a postponement or revealed when the film might arrive instead.
The March 5 date had been confirmed earlier this year after speculation about a possible delay. In August, Sandeep Reddy Vanga reiterated that the film was on schedule, stating that the team had completed a 40-day shooting schedule, with another 65 days of filming remaining.
The latest report suggests that the plans may have changed since that update. However, until the makers issue an official statement, the reported delay should not be treated as a confirmed change to the release calendar.
Could Fauzi’s Release Schedule Affect Spirit?
The latest speculation surrounding Spirit comes amid reported changes to the release plans for Fauzi, another upcoming Prabhas film. The period action drama, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, had previously been expected to release in December 2026. Recent reports suggest that it is now targeting March 18, 2027.
With multiple large-scale projects in Prabhas’ upcoming lineup, the timing of each release remains a closely watched issue for fans and the film industry. However, the available reports do not establish that the reported change to Fauzi is the confirmed reason for a possible postponement of Spirit.
The makers have yet to clarify whether production requirements, scheduling considerations or another factor has influenced the reported change in plans.
What Is Spirit About? Cast, Director and Production Details
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who previously directed Ranbir Kapoor in Animal. The upcoming action drama is written, edited and directed by Vanga and is backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series in association with Bhadrakali Pictures.
Prabhas plays a police officer in the film. The cast also includes Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj. The project is being planned for a multilingual release across eight languages, reflecting its broad theatrical ambitions.
The film’s first-look poster, released at the end of 2025, introduced Prabhas in a rugged, bruised appearance, with Triptii Dimri featured alongside him. The intense visual presentation added to the anticipation surrounding the collaboration between the actor and the director.
Vanga’s previous film, Animal, generated significant attention, and his collaboration with Prabhas has remained one of the closely followed projects on the actor’s upcoming slate.
When Will the Makers Announce Spirit’s New Release Date?
For now, Spirit has no officially announced replacement date. The latest report has renewed speculation about a possible delay, but audiences will need to wait for confirmation from the production team before treating March 5, 2027 as a formally changed release date.
The next official update is likely to be important for fans tracking Prabhas’ upcoming films and the wider 2027 theatrical calendar. Until then, the status of Spirit remains a reported scheduling change rather than a confirmed postponement.
