The Scam franchise is returning with another chapter, and this time the story moves into the world of businessman Subrata Roy. Sony LIV has unveiled the first look of Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, featuring Siddharth Bodke in the role of the Sahara Group founder. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the third instalment of the popular franchise is scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
Produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, the upcoming series takes the franchise into a different chapter of India’s financial and corporate history. The first-look teaser offers glimpses of the years 1992, 2003, 2008 and 2010, connecting the new story with the earlier instalments while introducing its central character.
Scam 2010 First Look Introduces Siddharth Bodke as Subrata Roy
The teaser opens with a reference to Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, bringing back the iconic line “Risk hai toh ishq hai”, delivered by Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta. It then moves to 2003, featuring Hemant Kher as Ashwin Mehta and the line “Daring toh karna padega na darling”.
The visuals subsequently move through 2008 and 2010, showing characters against corporate and vintage settings. The teaser then introduces Siddharth Bodke as Subrata Roy, giving viewers their first glimpse of the businessman at the centre of the new season.
One of the key moments arrives when the teaser displays the words “A new chapter unfolds”. A group of formally dressed people is seen applauding as a character walks confidently down a hallway. Siddharth’s character is then heard saying, “Hum par logon ka bharosa hai, vishwas hai. Logon ka hum sahara hai aur ye sahara abhi tak haara nahi hai.”
The first look establishes the tone of the upcoming season without revealing the complete storyline. It also signals a shift in focus from the earlier financial personalities explored by the franchise to Subrata Roy and the events surrounding his business empire.
Siddharth Bodke on Playing Subrata Roy
Speaking about his role, Siddharth Bodke described Scam 2010 as one of the most challenging and special experiences of his career. He said his interest was not limited to recreating Subrata Roy’s public image but also understanding the person behind it.
“Playing lead character in Scam 2010 has honestly been one of the most challenging and special experiences of my career. What interested me the most was understanding the man behind the image,” the actor said.
He further explained that he wanted to explore Roy’s motivations, decisions and personality beyond his larger-than-life public presence. According to Siddharth, spending an extended period with the character also influenced him personally as an actor.
The performance will be an important part of the new season, particularly as audiences will be familiar with the public profile of Subrata Roy. The series now has the task of presenting its interpretation of the businessman and the controversies associated with his journey.
Hansal Mehta Returns to the Scam Franchise
Hansal Mehta returns to the franchise after creating Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, which became one of India’s most widely discussed streaming series. The franchise subsequently continued with Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, exploring Abdul Karim Telgi and the stamp paper scam. With Scam 2010, the makers are moving to another chapter, this time centred on Subrata Roy.
The first-look announcement also references the franchise’s earlier seasons through its timeline and familiar dialogue. However, the new instalment introduces a different central figure and a fresh business story.
The first-look reveal comes after IMDb recognised Scam 1992 among its acclaimed shows, with the series holding the top position in its ranking of the decade’s best series for five consecutive years, according to the supplied announcement.
