Here is everything to know about The Vvaan’s OTT release date, streaming platform, storyline and the folklore behind the film.

The Vvaan OTT Release Date and Streaming Platform

The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 6, 2026. Viewers will be able to stream the Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia-starrer through the platform from its announced digital release date.

The film originally reached theatres on September 25, 2026. Its move to digital streaming gives viewers who missed the theatrical release another opportunity to explore its fantasy-thriller storyline.

What Is The Vvaan About?

The Vvaan follows an atheist engineer whose life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters an ancient curse connected to a mysterious forest. The story centres on Vvaan Devi, who is believed to protect a village where entering the forest after sunset is strictly forbidden.

The film builds its narrative around the relationship between local beliefs, an ancient forest and the supernatural forces associated with it. Its premise draws on folklore surrounding the Van Devi Temple, giving the fantasy thriller a connection to regional traditions.

Is The Vvaan Based on a True Story?

The film is inspired by folklore associated with the Van Devi Temple near Patna, Bihar. Writer Arunabh Kumar revealed the connection, while director and writer Deepak Kumar Mishra also discussed how stories surrounding the temple influenced the film.

However, The Vvaan is a fictional fantasy thriller inspired by local beliefs and folklore, rather than a confirmed retelling of documented historical events. Its story uses the temple’s traditions and the mystery surrounding the forest as the foundation for its narrative.

The Story Behind the Van Devi Temple in Bihar

The Van Devi Temple, also known as Maa Van Devi Mandir, is described as a centuries-old forest shrine near Bihta in Bihar, approximately 35 kilometres west of Patna. It is associated with the meeting point of Amhara, Raghopur and Kanchanpur villages.

Unlike temples where the deity is represented through a conventional idol, Van Devi is worshipped here in the form of a sacred stone pind. Devotees regard the goddess as the guardian of the forest, and local traditions surrounding the shrine have been passed down through generations.

The temple’s forest setting and the beliefs associated with Van Devi provide the cultural and folklore background for The Vvaan. The film draws on these elements to create a story involving a forbidden forest, supernatural mystery and an ancient curse.

The Vvaan Cast and Production

The film features Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. Deepak Kumar Mishra directs the project, which was developed through a creative partnership between Balaji Motion Pictures and The Viral Fever (TVF).

The project was announced in November 2024 under the working title Vvan: Force of the Forrest. It later emerged as The Vvaan: Force of the Forrest, a fantasy thriller built around folklore and supernatural elements.

With its Amazon Prime Video premiere scheduled for November 6, 2026, The Vvaan is preparing for its next release window after its theatrical run.
