Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of the very first season of Indian Idol back in 2004, is back with something close to his heart. He released a new Marathi song titled “Chal Turu Turu.” For Abhijeet, this isn’t just another song—it’s a tribute to the rich and soulful Marathi music culture.
“Marathi music has a deep and beautiful legacy,” Abhijeet shared. “I’ve always wanted to be a part of it in my own way. This song is my small contribution, a respectful nod to the music I grew up with.”
Bringing a Classic to Today’s Generation
The idea to recreate Chal Turu Turu was brought to Abhijeet Sawant by collaborators Prasad and Ganesh. The moment he heard about it, he immediately said yes. The song holds a special place in his heart.
“It’s one of my all-time favorite songs in Marathi,” he said. “I’ve heard it many times during my childhood. Prasad and Ganesh have done an amazing job with the music. We’ve kept the original feel of the song alive but added a modern twist to make it fresh and relatable for today’s listeners.”
Abhijeet Sawant Marking 20 Years in the Music Industry
This release is also very special for Abhijeet for another reason—it marks his 20th year in the music world. After winning Indian Idol in 2004, he became a well-known name across India. Looking back at his journey, Abhijeet says it’s been full of emotions, learning, and gratitude.
“This year is very special for me,” he said. “It’s been 20 years since my Indian Idol win, and this journey has had its ups and downs. But I’m thankful for all of it. Music has given me so much, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.”

A Personal Dream Come True
Though he gained fame through Hindi music, Abhijeet always dreamed of doing something meaningful in Marathi music. That dream started to come true in 2013 when he released Sar Sukhachi Shravani, a song that became a big hit and gave him a new platform in the Marathi industry.
“That song changed everything for me,” he shared. “It opened new doors and gave me a chance to explore a whole new side of my musical identity.”
With Chal Turu Turu, Abhijeet is hoping to connect with both long-time Marathi music lovers and the younger generation. By blending tradition with modern sounds, he wants to keep the spirit of Marathi music alive and thriving.
Fans of Abhijeet and Marathi music can look forward to this heartfelt release soon. It’s more than just a song—it’s a celebration of culture, memories, and the journey of an artist who continues to follow his passion.
