Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, has returned to Instagram after a break. Her comeback comes weeks after she faced major controversy and online hate following her appearance on the show India’s Got Latent.
First Post Since the Controversy
Apoorva posted her first photo since deleting all her old Instagram content. In the picture, she is holding an umbrella and smiling in the rain, possibly at a hill station. What caught people’s attention was the caption:
“Even in the gloomiest of skies, there is always light.”
This hopeful message seemed to reflect her mindset after dealing with a tough time. Many of her followers saw it as a powerful comeback. One fan commented, “Loving the vibes, it’s giving the sweetest comeback.” Another said, “Finally, she is back!”
The Controversy and Online Backlash
Apoorva got caught up in a storm of online criticism after her appearance on comedian Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent in January. During one of the episodes, another guest, Ranveer Allahbadia, made controversial remarks about sex and parenting. Though Allahbadia faced the most backlash, a clip involving Apoorva also went viral and led to heavy trolling.
Soon after, Samay Raina deleted all episodes of the show. Several people connected to the show, including Apoorva, were named in FIRs (police complaints) filed over the comments made.
Speaking Out About Online Abuse
After the backlash, Apoorva decided to step away from Instagram and deleted all her posts. But the online hate didn’t stop. In a recent emotional post, she shared how she received rape and death threats in her DMs.
She said, “I started reading my DMs, and they were all graphic… how people want to rape me, throw acid, and stuff like that.”

It got so serious that her manager advised her not to go home, as her address was known to many. Apoorva also spoke about how hard it was to visit the police. She said she cried a lot and felt “dehumanized” because of how the paparazzi treated her.
Sadly, the abuse also spread to her family. Trolls found her mother’s social media account and left cruel messages there too. Apoorva said, “I deserve this because I did this. My parents did not deserve this.”
Using Her Platform for Good
Despite everything, Apoorva is trying to make something good out of the situation. She shared that any money earned from her videos will go to an NGO that supports acid attack survivors, rape victims, and victims of domestic violence.
A New Beginning
Apoorva’s latest post feels like the start of a new chapter. Her message reminds people that even in the darkest times, there is still hope. With the support of her followers and family, she seems ready to move forward—and inspire others to do the same.
